thats awesome man!!! i also used a D40 and loved it , now i have the D300. actually the peacocks just came through the neighborhood one day and i always have my D300 in the box.

But I am the same way. Anytime I leave my house (unless I am just going to the store) I grab my camera gear. Ya just never know. My friend Yuto is saving for a d90, and myself, would like to get the d600

If you don't, I am going to have to take it from you, so I can sell my 40, and use that money to upgrade to some new lenses!

Time for photo's and History lesson

This is "the Brass Ass". Its a strip club. Built in the 50's (as you can tell by the decor) and owned by the Cleveland 4. (mob from Cleveland that set up shop in Newport Ky). A guy at work lived next door to it in the 80's. During the Cleaning of Newport Ky. Needless to say, he got to see a lot of strippers because his mom was friends with the operator. (they operated these places with local owners. Not very often were the major players actually involved. They just made sure things ran how they wanted, checked in once in a while, and paid off officials)

You see, Newport Ky was Las Vegas before Las Vegas. In fact the Sands Casino was built after The Beverly Hills Supper Club. And the Beverly Hills Supper Club, was the first and still in the top 3 most deadly fires in Night Club US History.

Many of the syndicates (mob/mafia) would eventually close up shop in Newport, and move to Las Vegas or the Bahama's where it was still an Open City.

This is the first time I've been down there. So I was flying blind. I hope to get some good daytime shots as well tomorrow if it doesn't snow. I also want to go to the remains of the Beverly Hills Supper club. There is still plates, chairs, and personal belongings laying around up there. I am not going to take anything (unless I see something I just have to have!) except for pictures. Its all overgrown with weeds and bushes now, but hopefully I can find some neat things.
