Scion Camp Out 2 Update

Dear Scion campers,

Thanks for registering for Camp Out 2!

The event of the year is almost upon us. So, we would like to give everybody a quick update on what’s in store at Scion Camp Out 2, Aug 9-10. As you already know, Camp Out 2 will be hosted by Rye Playland located just off of I-95 in Rye, New York. Featuring over 50 amusement park rides for kids of all ages and a facility that includes a beach, a boardwalk, and a swimming pool (all set in a beautiful shorefront location overlooking Long Island Sound), Playland is a unique and perfect location to spend some summertime fun with your favorite Scion friends and family. Stay with us through movie night, camp out under the stars, and wake up to a spectacular sunrise – only to have another full day of Scion fun waiting for you.

Did we mention you get your own Scion tent? And other Scion goodies? Keep on reading below for details.

- This year’s Scion tent is bigger AND better – every registered Scion owner gets a 7’x7’ Scion dome tent by Coleman
- And yes, for returning campers – we’re on grass this year!

Rye Playland
- Playland’s motto is “Have some fun” and we’re betting that you will have a lot of fun between the 50+ amusement rides and attractions, boardwalk, beach, and swimming pool opportunities.

Camp Out 2 Movie Night
- After you’ve got your tent set and have enjoyed our BBQ welcome dinner, get ready for Camp Out 2’s movie night

The Scion Camp Out Lounge
- If the amusement park rides or movie night isn’t your thing, the Scion lounge will be stocked with a DJ, games, and refreshments

Scion Camp Out Car Show
- After a night of movies and fun, its time to shine the paint and polish the chrome – the fully-judged Scion Camp Out car show will let everybody show off their latest mods and compete for some trophies in the process.

Scion Camp Out Olympics
- It might not quite be Beijing, but we pay tribute to the Summer Games with our own summer fun – compete in team-oriented Tug of War, Dodge Ball, and Obstacle Course contests for bragging rights and some nice prizes.

FAQ

Where will we be camping?
The movie night and overnight camping will take place in a grass field in the Playland complex.

Will I get a tent?
Yes, all Scion owners registered for the event will receive 1 Scion tent

Is the tent bigger than last year?
We know, we know – last year’s tents were a bit on the small side. We don’t expect any disappointment from the bigger and better 7’x7’ Scion dome tents by Coleman that we will be handing out this year! However, if you do plan to camp overnight, please bring your own sleeping gear (mats, sleeping bags, lanterns etc.)

Can we bring our own grill? Can we start campfires?
Sorry, we will do all the grilling and there are no open flames or grilling allowed in the camping area.

Can I bring my kids?
Each Scion owner is allowed to bring 1 guest. We will however be able to accommodate families with small children who wish to attend the event on a limited basis. Please notify us ahead of the event so that we can properly note your registration.

Are there restrooms onsite?
Yes, Scion will be bringing portable facilities to the camping area. As well, permanent restrooms are a short walk away from the camping area.

Are there showers available?
Yes, Playland will be opening up their beach and pool shower facilities for guest use both Saturday evening (shared with public) and Sunday morning (Scion guest use only). Please note that the facilities are communal (no individual stalls) in nature and located on the beach area opposite of the camp area. Please also note that you should bring your own toiletries (soap, towels, shampoo, etc) should you decide to use the facilities.

Are you going to feed us?
Yes, guests will enjoy dinner on Saturday night as well as breakfast and lunch on Sunday.

Will there be overnight security?
Yes, both private security and Westchester County Police will be onsite during the event to ensure the safety of our guests.

What if I want to stay for the movies, but not camp overnight?
Guests are able to leave the park after movie night and return the next day.

What time are the hours of the amusement park?
Rye Playland Park will be open Noon-Midnight on Saturday and Noon-10:30PM on Sunday

Are the amusement park rides included?
Yes, all owners and their guests will receive Fun Passes good for all Rye Playland amusement rides and the mini-golf course. Carnival-style games, concessions, and paddle boats though are not a part of the Fun Pass privileges.

I hope I'm not too late to register. I just tried registering and it wouldn't let me select the Camp Out 2 event; and it doesn't offer 2009 for a model year option.

I'll have to try calling the number tomorrow.

Well... I talked to Jackie at Urban Racer this morning. It seems as though registration closed yesterday; thus the reason I was having trouble registering last night.

He had me send an email to be put on a waiting list in case they get any cancellations. So, if they have a few cancellations, the xB and the xA will be there. If not... I guess we wait til next year.
