| reccomend me some anime... Hey, guys.
Just got done rewatching Afro Samurai with Samuel L. jackson and am now in the mood for some more anime. all I have is Akira and Wicked City so if you could reccomend some new titles, that'd be awesome. Note, I don't care for the crazy cartoon pornos i have seen online, so never mind those. :O) Just some stuff with some serious action and sword fighting or monsters and lasers and all kinds of crazy stuff, Thanks! |

| Re: reccomend me some anime... If you liked Afro Samurai, watch Samurai Champloo.
And Deathnote. Deathnote is the shiz. But don't watch the bullsh*t English version, the voice acting is terrible.
Karas (as Radioaktiv recommended) is fantastic as well.
And some of Thumps recs: I've watched all of those, Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell I and II are must-sees.
LOL How can you not consider Astro Boy to be an anime? He was like... the FIRST. XD |

XD | I dunno, when I think of anime I think of very surreal animation, large amounts of blood flying and samurai sowrds and that kind of thing. Astro is a boy robot in his undies, I geuss it never really hit me as anime :O)
what about samurai X, is that any good?

| Re: reccomend me some anime... Samurai X definitely has the blood and sword parts covered
you will like Ninja Scroll too, as Thumps mentioned
it is a must see for anyone getting into anime
and fits the bill for what you've described
i dont know if you are wanting series too, or just movies
but Inuyasha is a good series IMO
and its future-based, but i love Outlaw Star with every bone in my body

Samurai X is decent; the original TV Series (Rurouni Kenshin) is much better IMO.
Samurai 7 is also fantastic and is a joint project with Akira Kurosawa (yes, the legendary filmmaker).
You should also watch Blood: The Last Vampire.
And if you're looking for some crazy animation; try Gankutsuou. The colours and the patterns are insane. It's loosely based off of the Count of Monte Cristo... but I've only seen a few episodes. ^ Trailer
Okay, I'll shut up before I give you more stuff to watch than is humanly possible. LOL. |

Nothing too overt, but it's definitely not a family movie, to say nothing of the violence in it. |

there is also a full-length movie thats excellent as well
but the series is what got me interested, and will always hold a spot in my top faves
the character and story development is really good IMO, it has some good action but the real reason this one is a gem is because it is well written
i used to stay up till like 2am watching this and Cowboy Bebop back when Adult Swim showed good anime |
