| question about trd lowering springs hello all,
my wife and i will be getting an '10 xB soon to act as a family car since we are expecting our first child in january. the idea of getting a mini van is not that appealing so we decided on the box. anyways, we were looking at some of the options and after doing my bit of research, we still have a few questions and i'm hoping people here can help us out.
we want to get as many things done at the dealership because we're really not the type to want to get things done aftermarket. we're adding on a slew of the accessories, but there were a few options we are fuzzy about. namely the TRD lowering springs and TRD performance shocks. how much lower do the TRD lowering springs make the car? we are adding the 19" TRD rims, will that be a factor in any way with the springs? how much more stiff/rough/bumpy is the ride? will the xb be able to handle normal speed bumps? and lastly, what are the advantages of getting the performance shocks?
thanks in advance. |

| Re: question about trd lowering springs First off, congratulations. The trd springs will lower the front about 1" and rear about 1.5". The trd springs are about 10% stiffer than stock, so you will get a stiffer ride. The 19" wheels will look nice, but you will get a rougher ride due to the smaller sidewall height. So, the springs and 19" tires will give a rougher ride than stock. Hope this helps. |

| Re: question about trd lowering springs Welcome to the boards and congrats on your new Box.
I would advise getting your options at an aftermarket source. The prices are much more at the dealership. |

| Re: question about trd lowering springs You won't notice the "stiffer" springs. It will still ride the same. The TRD shocks are way over priced so keep the stock ones untill they blow out (wont happen for a while).
The 19's will be a rougher ride but by how much I don't know. My 18's are pretty smooth unless I am going over one of our many messed up roads. You will still be able to go over speed bumps like a normal car if your lower it on TRD springs. |

| Re: question about trd lowering springs I have the full TRD suspension, sway bars and 19" wheels. My car drives on rails AND all the parts are warranty friendly. It handles awesome, much better than stock. Speed bumps are no problem, so long as you aren't in a hurry to fly over them. I never scrape (which probably makes me un-cool to a lot of people on this board ) and I can go anywhere a regular car can go.
The ride is perfectly fine with the TRD springs. You'll go down about 1" up front and around 1.5" in the back. I take my senior citizen family members out to lunch about once a week and they all love my car.
Check out my elderly Aunt riding shotgun, she enjoys being chauffeured around in my car. |

| Re: question about trd lowering springs Congrats on your new ride. Don't know what part of the country you are in but us in the snow part in winter, we would be plowing then. And with the TRD parts, they are warranted. Nice thing is if you have it done before you get your ride then you don't have to take her back to do it. Let the mods begin! |

| Re: question about trd lowering springs quackpot, it's a shame you live in arizona else i would have hit you up for a ride along so i can feel the ride for myself. your set up is exactly what i'm looking to get, the 19's, shocks, springs and sway bars. the wife and i test drove one the other day and felt like with the stock set up, it was already somewhat a stiffer ride compared to other suv's on the market, namely the acura mdx. my biggest concern is if and when my wife will start breast feeding, i don't want her to be in pain everytime we hit a bump in the road. and living in los angeles, the city's not exactly known for smooth roads. if you guys have wives who's breast fed, you'll know what i'm talking about. |

| Re: question about trd lowering springs are the TRD springs good with just stock shocks? i heard, in general, lowering springs can sometimes blow the stock shocks. but i guess it depends how much they lower ur car. |
