| Need guidance So right now I am working on paying off my car, just a little bit more to go. After that it's time to upgrade the wife's car to something she will enjoy and is reliable.
I joined this site to find out as much as I can before purchasing an xB for her.
What are people's opinions on 1st gen vs. 2nd gen?
We are looking at some 1st gen white ones, they seem really classy/clean looking.
What is a good price for a 1st gen auto, in great condition with 30-40K miles?
If anyone uses theirs as a DD, how is it?
How does it drive in the rain/snow?
What kind of mileage should she expect to get around town/hwy?
Anyone know any reason to not use it as a DD with kids on the way (hopefully)?
Sorry for all the questions... If I had known 1/2 as much as i know now about the stang when I bought it, I could have gotten it for a much better price.
thanks!

We are looking at some 1st gen white ones, they seem really classy/clean looking. white is nice! i wanted white... couldnt wait for a day to get my xB so i got another color. but a part of me still wants white.
What is a good price for a 1st gen auto, in great condition with 30-40K miles? i think it all depends on where you live, and how bad you want it. what was done with it and all that. white seems to be harder and harder to find though these days let alone a 1st gen. i would assume something like 9-11k?
If anyone uses theirs as a DD, how is it? mines is a DD, its cool, wish it had more power but, cant complaint for a 1.5 liter, it has a good amount of torque, but then again im a MT not a AT so someone can might answer this a lil better than i can
How does it drive in the rain/snow?
stock it sucks, a little work done to it and its not bad... not bad at all. but if you plan on leaving it stock to me it felt like i was driving a boat
What kind of mileage should she expect to get around town/hwy? i hear people getting some crazy miles like 35 and all that. but i get 28/32
Anyone know any reason to not use it as a DD with kids on the way (hopefully)? kinda small if youre trying to lugg stuff around. trunk isnt so big either but thats nothing a roof rack cant solve! |

The second gen is safer, more powerful, and has more room.
The 1st gen has more unique style, better gas mileage and more aftermarket parts available.
Do you want a new car or someone elses used car? Thats the main reason I choice the 2nd gen. |

we live real close to where my wife works, so right now she fills up the neon like every 3 weeks and even then its about 25.00....
but as soon as we can she wants to have little kiddo's running around so space is going to be an issue, just heaven forbid we do not want to drive a minivan around!
the preformance of the car isnt a big deal. It is what it is, and we can't have her taking corners faster than me or laying down lower 1/4 mile times
what can we do to make it safe/comfortable to drive in the rain/light snow
any thoughts on this beaut?
This seems about normal for around here.
aw suck, it won't let me post a link...
here is the CL description
2006 Scion XB White with 17" black rims with low profile tires just got them in january. In-dash navigation and touch screen DVD player. It has 63k miles and gets over 30 mpg!!! Just had interior and exterior detailing. Im asking 10,500 or best offer Quote:

i love the inside of the xb2 but the outside of the xb1 is edgy...
then comes the price, xb1 seems to be quite a bit lower than xb2 (logically)

| Re: Need guidance I live in an area that has alot of snow in winter and rain as well. I had my thoughts about alot of snow but I had no problem at all. As long as there is common sense you should be ok. I have a 06 box and even in winter in never got below 30mpg. |

| Re: Need guidance I drove through all the snow the PNW threw at my gen1 xB this year (record snowfall for us) and never once got stuck even though I plowed the 8-10 inches in my culdesac with the front lip. I run the stock rims with studded tires for the winter, all the weight is over the drive wheels it goes very well in the winter weather. |

| Re: Need guidance Not from the factory. They could be installed by the dealer or the dealer had a outside source that would install them using the Scion kit. I believe that the 2 gen boxs were part of the package. Got to remember that from 04 to 06 the box demand grew as well as the standard option too |

| Re: Need guidance I emailed on this one today, any thoughts? Clicky Clicky
Price $10,750
Condition Used
Mileage 68,550
Trim 5dr Wgn Auto
Trans 4 Speed Automatic with OD
Navigation system, custom tail light's, Mag wheels new tires, second set of tires wheels with studs for winter. Front strut tortion bar, am,fm cd player, cruise control, No door knocks and no dents or scratch's. Never smoked in. This is a clean and well maintained vehicle. This is the xB we are looking for, it's white with silver rims and the nice taillights. It has nav which is a plus but not needed.

| Re: Need guidance Just got my loan approval... the end is nearing!
I notice that some xb's have the radio controld on the steering wheel. is that an upgrade? can you upgrade that on one that does not have the controls already?
