got a few questions while shopping

My wife and I were looking at an 05 Solar Yellow xB and were wondering if the rear gate was low enough for our dog to jump into? I have a retired greyhound that doesn't really like climbing into or being picked up and put into cars. I was really just looking for a replacement for my Caravan and wa wondering if they were about the same height to the floor?

Re: got a few questions while shopping

Well the 1st gen xB's did have an already low body I'm not sure if your dog could hop in or not, but the good thing is that you can lower the xB a lot more if have the funds. A 2" drop wouldn't cost too much, but a 3"+ drop will not be cheap. I say bring the dog when you look at the xB and let him test the jump out. lol
BTW Welcome to the club!

Re: got a few questions while shopping

Thanks very much, and I actually did bring him to the Honda dealership when I was looking at a Fit, he didn't like jumping that high. I could talk the wife into a mild lowering, thats how all my vehicles have started out.

Would be easy to make a small ramp for him to walk up into the rear. And the ramp could still be small enough to store inside. Just a thought.

Re: got a few questions while shopping

I measured the step into my Caravan, and its 18". The dog could do that much. And talking the wife into it would not be hard at all or she wouldn't have a B2200 with a 302 and custom frame in the garage right now

LOL. . . half of these guys can't remember stock height

Looks to be about 26" from the ground to the bottom of the back section (with spare tire covers & floormat or place, aka stock).

I'm really surprised that no one has yet suggested you put it on bags so you can drop it flat for fido & then run it back up to a comfortable drive height.

Re: got a few questions while shopping

I just bought the Solar Yellow 05. I have to admit I am hooked. Is it somewhat rare? We got an awesome deal on it, less than 10k, and it has a plaque in it saying it is number xxxx of 2500. I love the Packers and have a license plate that spells out Cheesehead.

Oh, PETsMART sells the ramps for dogs.
