| buying an 04 gen 1 this weekend :) Hey everyone!
I've been wanting an xB since they first came out. Now that i'm done with college, i have enough saved up to buy one. I've been looking around for awhile now, and found a maroon 04 with 70k auto. Does any one have carfax here? if not i can run it myself. I'm looking to get a rack for it, but are there cheaper set up's than the yakima?. I've also been looking around at the old'skool style chrome rings for the steelies, and center cap. Any place i should start to look at?
I'm in Nor Cal. Bay area, the car i'm picking up is in So Cal LA.

| Re: buying an 04 gen 1 this weekend :) Welcome to the club! I get most my parts off eBay (1st and 2nd Gen), some people have had bad luck with eBay. Watch the classifieds here often and you'll run into most the stuff you'll need. Trim rings can be found at most any Auto Parts store, Autozone, etc. |

| Re: buying an 04 gen 1 this weekend :) Thanks everyone,
I'm over in Hayward, east bay area. I'm driving down tomorrow (sun.) to get the car from a dealer and bring it back monday afternoon . My first ride will be a 5.5 hour trip back up lol.
Yeah i've been looking around through some threads on scionlife? i think thats the name of the forum. Looks like people are getting the chrome rings from NAPA and center caps from like autozone. I'm thinking about getting the late 70's tercel center cap. I saw some guy with those on, they look NICE. |

| Re: buying an 04 gen 1 this weekend :) I got the car home, took me about 6 hours to get home, there was a ton of rain headed up to the bay area. Anyways, at idle it sounds like it has a very faint exhaust leak?? My friend owns one and says its normal, the exhaust is a little loud? Also, are there any aftermarket visors i can swap in that have extensions. The stock ones dont cover my face when the sun is at the side .
One other thing i found out is that the grill is a little loose. There are these push pins or something that fit at the top corners of the grill to keep it from moving around, but they aren't really fitting snug, more of just like there to keep it from falling out. |

| Re: buying an 04 gen 1 this weekend :) congrats on the pickup! theres a lot of local guys in your area such as james (yellowsub) and eugene (eavxb10) and many others out there. yeah it has been raining pretty hard out here these past couple of days. what visors are you running now? theres lots of options for them! u can get the small ones, the larger ones, then the massive ones thats only for the front driver and passenger.
it may sound confusion at first but youll get the hang of it! welcome to the new crack! |

| Re: buying an 04 gen 1 this weekend :) The visors i think are stock. They're pretty big, but i want some kind of extension for the sides to block the sun.
So far i went over to Autozone to pick up an air filter. The one in there was dirty as heck, everything else looks good.
thanks for the ebay url, i got to get some of these |
