64 years old and just picked up my xb.

Yup, getting close to Medicare and picked up my first NEW car in 33years this past Thursday.

Got tired of used cars and the wife and I figured we should drive something new. Went to see it on impulse and were impressed. Drove it and closed the deal the next day. We leased it for 3 years. Have yet to go anywhere due to the holiday weekend, the kids and grandchildren.

See it in the garage and feel like a kid again!

Re: 64 years old and just picked up my xb.

Congratulations on your xB! I'm 49 and have had mine for 2 weeks now, the RS 5.0 Gold Rush Mica. Each time I think about the car I smile, and each time I see it I want to giggle like a kid again. I can't think of any other car that would elicit the same response right now. I hated the gold, especially in the interior when I first saw the car, but the more I thought about, the better it felt. Damn, I'm glad I bought the xB.

Re: 64 years old and just picked up my xb.

WOW! I'm liking this already

I'm 51 and am in the market for a work car/daily driver.

I've had a plethora of Toyotas over my lifetime, an 83 4x4 (new), 85 4-runner (custom), 74 FJ40 Landcruiser, 80's model (don't recall the year) corolla hatchback, 70's model corolla 2 door and of course the current 89 FJ62Landcruiser, aka: the elephant chaser.

The problem is the 89 Landcruiser is my DD and at 9.5 mpg, it's gotta go It's wonderful when the weather goes to crap (as it's doing right now) and the roads fill with water, or when I need to get into the back woods for work, but other than that, it's just not suitable as a DD with rising fuel cost

I also own an 87 Vette that will be getting some MAJOR mods over the next year or so and will be off the street for a while; however, for the time being, it's being used as a semi-daily driver because it gets 17+city and 22-28 highway (if I keep the old foot out of it).

I rent when I have to make long trips and was looking at a Prius, but I refuse to grab my ankles for a car so UGLY they couldn't give it away a couple years back

That said, I've been reading and researching the XD and XB model Scions.

I really rather prefer the XB but the mileage seems so much better onthe XD.

I'm thrilled to see so many older people like myself getting into the XB's and XD's

Hope you don't mind me hanging out here and seeing what everyone has to say?

Thanks,

From Tampa

61 and just brought a new xB home... Still grinning!

Congratulations! I am 22 and just got a box a few months ago. I wish my dad didn't have to drive a Dodge Durango for work so he could get one. He is always so happy when I let him drive mine. I hope you're enjoying it.

Re: 64 years old and just picked up my xb.

Congratulations to all you "old" guys!

I'm 45 and bought my '04 new. I've done some mods, but want to do more. I plan to keep this car a long time. I'd like a new xB to replace our '02 Honda Odyssey (great van - like new with 100k on the clock), but my wife hates the new xB. Well, maybe the next generation. They're both paid for!
