Re: 2010s

I took delivery of my 2010 xb yesterday. I decided to get the Sizzling Crimson as it was on the lot and decided I really like it. I have had a black vehicle for so long that it is so nice to have a different color. I have to go back to the dealer today to get the sound system put it. I am going with the Pioneer.

Well, I love my XB! But they did not have 2010 Pioneer radios in yet, so they installed a 2009 until they come in. Since I am getting satellite, installation took 5 and 1/2 hours! Man, they could build an entire car in that amount of time!

I am so glad I was able to do the Cash for Clunkers program. I saved $3500!! If you are thinking of trading in, now is the time, before they run out of money!

I saved the full $4500. I guess a lot of people are taking advantage of this. There is speculation that the money might be all gone in just a matter of weeks.

If you are thinking of utilizing the CfC program, I would look into sooner than later.

The 2010s are cosmetically and mechanically identical to the 08s and 09s. The only difference is the 2010s get 2 new stereo options.

Good advice for all! They will run out of money, so do it now! There is a web site where you can figure out, using your vin number, how much you will get.
The program takes in account your current mpg vs the vehicle you get, that is why not everyone gets the maximum amount.

Re: 2010s

Picked up my silver 2010 on Tuesday. I am loving it so far. The new Alpine stereo is sweet. I really want to get the nav add-on for it but it is not available yet.

I called scion and the guy I talked with said they don't have any info on the nav upgrade unit other than it exists.

I will take some pics and post them when I get a chance.

Well, as it turns out, they put a new Alpine unit in. Regarding the navigation, you need to purchase a disk for $265 for the navigation to work. Sound like way too much to spend, considering that you can get a gps for that amount. I wonder if these disks can be purchased elsewhere? The sound of the Alpine is unbelievable!

Where did this info come from? A salesman or from Scion directly?

I was under the impression that a separate nav box that plugs into the deck was what was needed. I don't see any GPS antenna anywhere in my car either.

This sounds fishy to me. Check out the Alpine NVE-M300. I think a Scion branded version of this is what we will be adding to our decks to enable navigation.

Re: 2010s

I don't think Bookmanjoe or myself have enough posts to be able to post pictures yet.

Here is the info from scion's site regarding the Alpine nav unit. It says "Optional plug-in navigation unit with voice guidance"

I think whoever supplied the info regarding a disk to enable the navigation was in error. I will be contacting scion directly to verify this info.

Just spoke with a scion rep and he confirmed that the nav upgrade for the 2010 Alpine premium stereo is not a disk but rather an additional piece of hardware that plugs into the HU.

Unfortunately, he didn't have any info regarding when it will be available or how much it will cost.

It seemed to me that all the dealer installed HU kinda stuck out of the dash a bit. My 2010 base unit fit flush.

Re: 2010s

Ordered my 2010 Scion Saturday. Dealer said it would be anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks before it comes in. It's my Birthday next Monday so the salesperson knows I'd like to have it then. I guess working for a car dealership years ago they plan on locating one here in the Knoxville area in Black Sand Pearl and trading for one in there inventory. They send a driver out with there stock number for the Black one bring it back to the dealership install whatever accessories they have in stock and order me the rest to be installed when they get in. My options are
Auto Trans
Spoiler
16" Alloy Wheels
SS Exhaust
Fog Lights
Sport Steering Wheel
Floor & Cargo Mats
Molded Dash Applique
Security System
Sport Pedals
160w Pioneer Audio System

I can't wait for it to come in. I'm going from a Lincoln MKZ to a Scion XB go figure.

I'm driving my Supercharged 04 RS 1.0 around for now, but as soon as it sells, I'm going to be on a BSP 2010. Super pumped!

Re: 2010s

Hey there everyone, ne to this board and just got my 2010 Saturday and already have 600 miles on her. Thing is great,
I have been looking in to the Alpine head unit options trying to figure out how to play the video in the front along with getting audio also with a ceiling mounted monitor / dvd player for the kids.
It looks like you will have to use the mini jack to get sound through the stereo system.
As for teh nav I was told few more weeks and it will be available.

The navigation works off the disk, not satilillite

How does that work? How would the system know your position without "satilillite" triangulation?

Re: 2010s

Got a call from my dealership yesterday my Scion was in so went down and picked it up. As I said in my first post they swapped another dealer for the Black base model and ordered all my add ons. Will be returning next week. They will give me a loner car so I can leave the Scion for the day to have them all installed. I'll post some pic's when it's finished.

My post was somewhat off (thats what I get for posting after a glass of wine). The disk stores information about all areas. This is enables the system to work even if you are in a tunnel. It is supposed to be more accurate than systems that work solely off a satellite. So, it works both off the disk and the satellite.
