Windows is...

...officially horrible at advertising
The "Mojave Experiment" doesnt actually prove anything about the capabilities (or lack thereof) of Vista
The commercial with Bill Gates and Seinfeld is totally pointless (kinda funny) but totally pointless
and most recently, Microsoft's counter to the Mac commercials.....what the hell was the point of that? "I am windows..." good for you, I DONT CARE

granted, i am a mac user so i am biased against windows, but these commercials are RETARTED

what do you think?

Re: Windows is...

you dont have to be a rocket scientist to use a mac. shit, the interface is far more intuitive than windows.

honestly, im not saying windows is totally shitty. it works (not as well as it shoul) but it works, and for most people, it gets the job done.
but their marketing?
that is shitty

Re: Windows is...

being "hip" has nothing to do with it. im talking about the fact that their marketing doesnt actually do anything to show that their OS is the best

Their mouse sucks, but the bluetooth keyboard is probably the best wireless one I've used.

MICROSOFT SUX APPLE ROX!!!!!!

There, just cutting to the chase - that's what you wanted to hear, right? Personally, I'm a pc user cuz they're cheap. But I'd definitely be open to any free macs you wanna toss my way! Oh and I don't really watch tv unless it's DVR and I skip right past the commercials. But anyway I'd never run out to buy something cuz I saw it in a commercial. Does anyone really pay attention to commercials anymore what with DVR and Tivo nowadays?

Re: Windows is...

Well, as much as I like Apple, my Macbook Pro still runs Windows as well under Boot Camp. Engineering work on a Mac ain't pretty, especially when most of your lab equipment uses serial communication and Windows .dll's. Also, all our software is Windows (Matlab, Labview, .NET, PSpice, etc).

I really got the Mini for the car because it was the cheapest solution, $400 for an Apple refurbished, no worrying about component compatability and bluetooth included. If I want to run some Windows only car s/w, I can always just load windows through bootcamp since it's an Intel chip. Vista would crush it though, only 1 gig of ram.

We are Scion owners. According to my training we're supposed to be immune to television advertising anyway.

My home PC runs Windows 98. And you can have it back when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

Re: Windows is...

For the money, Apple's are extremely reliable, and their video editing and specFX software is top notch. They are absolutely idiot proof, so they are for the majority of the masses.

Though I'll never purchase one. I prefer building my rig from the bottom up. Not to mention, I'm a pretty avid Windows user, and if people would actually just learn how to use the command prompt, and not surf porn all the time, their Windows machines wouldn't bother them.

Both have their strong and weak points - for me, using a PC is WAYYY better than an Apple.

The advertising? Yeah, it's crap. They should hire the people who did the Intel Ads....

Says the one with the board name of Cravin. Good stuff btw, lol.

Big_Jim: I build custom machines myself. I'm loving the fact that my motherboard can house a quad core and 4 video cards..... Now I just need the quad core and THREE more video cards!

Re: Windows is...

Well I really like Windows Vista, it works great for me.

Part of the problem with Vista (which MS is trying to combat through the Mojave experiments) is that it has a bad rep, and part of it is not it's fault.

One part of the problem is the whole "group-think" mentality. If someone believes something is bad, and you keep saying it enough to enough people, they'll start to believe it too.

The other part is that Vista doesn't receive the support it should from software or hardware. For example, I had bought Adobe CS 1.2 right before I bought Vista a year and some ago. When I installed CS 1.2, Adobe hadn't even updated it with a patch, forcing me to upgrade to the next CS version. To this day, they still haven't patched it, so I had to bite the bullet and upgrade.

Creative is notorious for not supporting their sound cards because they want to force people to upgrade as well. It's all a game, and software companies are giving Vista a bad name because when you install your program and it doesn't work on Vista, Vista is the first thing that gets blamed naturally.
