| Help --- I'm Computer Dumb I'm trying to download some pic's from our home computer over to
photobucket, but I must be doing something wrong. It wont take them,
giving me some goofy mesage about not all pictures being formated as "jpeg" or something
like that. How do I tell what is or isn't "jpeg" so I can transfer these pictures?
I was so frustrated I cleared the whole picture file from the computer so I can
start over . Any thought's -- And keep in mind I Am Computer DUMB!!!!

| What Jeff said! So when you save your pic, you should have a drop down to pick what type of format for your picture. Make sure you resize it so it doesn't show up all huge.
Hope this helps! Good luck! |

| These instructions are for Windows XP users, older versions are similar, but not the same.
Step 1: First we need to show the extension for the picture file(.jpg, .gif, .bmp, etc.): - Open the folder that your pictures are in.
- On the menu bar(File, Edit, View, etc.) click on the Tools Menu.
- Then select the Folder Options choice.
- You will have 4 tabs at the top(General, View, File Types, Offline Files), click on the View tab.
- Look in the Advanced Settings box on this tab.
- About 12 lines down you should see a choice that says: Hide extensions for known file types. Uncheck that box.
- Click apply, then click OK.
Step 2: Next we need to see if the files are an accepted format at Photobucket: - If it is not still open, open the folder containing the files you would like to upload.
- Next, look at the extension of the file(eg: mypic.jpg, .jpg is the extension).
- It is one of the accepted file formats for Photobucket? (gif, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, or swf)
- If they are an accepted file format skip to Step 4, if not, go to Step 3.
Step 3: Save As - For this step you will need photo editing software of some kind, in this case we will use Paint, it comes with Windows (keep in mind that Paint may not be able to open the file format you have, if this is the case you may need a more powerful photo editor like Photo Shop). - Open Paint (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint)
- Open 1 of the pictures that you would like to edit.
- Once this picture is open, click on the File Menu.
- Select the Save As... choice.
- Down at the bottom you will have 2 boxes, one is "File Name", and the other is "Save as type", pull down the "Save as type" choices by clicking on it.
- I like to work with either jpeg or gif, so choose the jpeg choice.
- Click Save
- Repeat for each additional picture that you need.
Step 4: Upload to Photobucket: - Go to Photobucket's upload page.
- Select the number of pictures that you would like to upload to the current album.
- Browse to the location of the picture you would like to upload. (When you find the picture, just select it and click the Open button and it will fill in the location it will upload from).
- Repeat for each of the pictures you would like to upload.
- Once you have selected all the pictures you would like to upload, click the submit button.
If everything goes the way it should, you should now have those pictures in your Photobucket album.
Hope this helps... |

| On your Photobucket pictures you will see 3 boxes underneath.
One for the Http address, one for the Html tag, and one for BB Code.
We will use the BB Code. Just click in the box that has the Img: next to it. This should hi-light the code in the box. Right-click the box and select the copy choice. Then come over here and right-click in the reply editor and select the paste choice. You should end up with a line that looks similar to this one: HTML Code: [IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/CorruptedFile/Misc/ScionAvReflect2.gif[/IMG] Then just preview, or submit your reply and you should have a picture there. |

| What is a computer "cookie"? I love Girl Scout Cookie's but I'm not so sure about these.
Do you folk's delete these every now and then? If so -- what's the trick to
remove these things? |

| Cookies are just little bits of information that websites place in your browsers cache to use for mostly just identifying you and keeping track of what you did on their site.
For instance this site places a cookie that identifies you so you dont have to log in every visit. Most cookies do no harm.
Some advertisers use cookies so they can tailor the ads to your preferences.
If you want to delete yout cookie cache go to Control panel / Internet options / Delete Cookies button.
If you do this you will have to log in to every site you have an account at. They will then place a new cookie on your computer again.
I dont worry about them but some antispyware programs will flag "Bad" cookies, usually from ad sites or porn sites. |
