| I've played around with some. But never really thought of using it as my main desktop. Right now I'm experimenting with the Sharp Zaurus SL-C3100 which is a unix based PDA. It's pretty fun playing around with it! |

| Old thread, but im bringing it back!
I'm a Ubuntu user and have been playing with linux since Redhat 7.
As of now, I'm pretty much a suse and Ubuntu lover. Mandriva is nice..but logged. Fedora core is... well... its not as good as Ubuntu. EDGY is great. The only thing keeping me from dual booting with Windows and Linux is Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver 8. I need those for webpage stuff.

How hard is it to install, and how do you like it?
Thanks |

Thanks | I switched to Ubuntu also. It is easy to install but drivers can be a pain as with any Linux free distro.
I got everything working but my wireless adaptor.
I switched also because my work uses this OS so I need to learn it.
If you have any questions just search the net and you'll find more things than you would want to read. PM me also if you want and I will try to help best I can.
Cheers, |

| Re: Any Linux users? yea i was talking to a senior developer at SUN and he was saying that there is a way to add something to the kernel and change around some bits and it will allow raiding of none HDD channel devices. its pretty impressive but only baller Xnix homies can do stuff like that |

| Re: Any Linux users? Almost everyone is using Linux, or some form of it today, whether they know it or not. More and more devices are running embedded forms of Linux with pretty front-ends on 'em.
As for me, last time I seriously messed with Linux was back in the mid 90s. RH 6 or somesuch. |

oh man redhat! oldschool. linux is the balls man. i love it but i am in no way good at it. i can get around but for the most part im kinda lame when it comes to linux/unix. majority of actiual home based linux users i have noticed are tending to migrate to ubuntu flavors or SUSE.
oh i was on the linux.org site and look what i stumbled across
this is so so so wrong

i am a hard core windows guy. my work is a MS certified partner so i am forced into that but i also have an iMac as my primary desktop, i have a windows desktop running (Windows XP Pro/Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2) but it is primarily used for a fileserver/FTP server/SKYPE host so it doesnt get touched much |

| Re: Any Linux users? If you're having strange crashes then it is most likely you computer set up in either hardware/software.
I use Ubuntu at work for everything, there is zero dependency on Windows unless you are trying to run a Windows APP. Most of the time Linux will even convert Windows files over or just accept them as is for work to be done.
But you definitely NEED to know Linux command line!
Sorry to sound like a Ubuntu sale person but if your having those issues you either need to update Ubuntu or read a few Linux's books. Then you'll love the free OS side |

I have it completly updated, and yeah it always crashes when i play Windows Solitaire.. which i am addicted too, i have WINE for all my windows products but i think like you said that it just allows it to run for only so long. |
