Turtle Wax ICE Review

So first of all I want to give a HUGE shout out thanks to the people at Turtle Wax® for providing me with their newest lineup of products. (also to Dave, the Admin of the site for referring me) I ended up receiving:

Turtle Wax® ICE® Car Wash
Turtle Wax® ICE® Paste Polish
Turtle Wax® ICE® Liquid Clay Bar
Turtle Wax® ICE® Foam Away
Microfiber Towels

I ended up using most of the products today and want to give my little review of each. (I will update tommorrow with my Foam Away review)

Lets start out with the car wash. Normally I am A ZIP wash kinda guy. It is cheap and altough I had tried others like Mothers and Meguiars, none struck me as amazing. I sorely mistaken when I thought that the other stuff was good. Turtle Wax® ICE® Car Wash is without a doubt the best stuff I have seen. Being that I am in the city of Bellevue in Nebraska, we usually have pretty bad hard water. So when I saw that it left no water spots, I assumed it would be like all the others and it would leave them. It actually does leave NO water spots. I was hella impressed. As for washing, it broke down the dirt better than ZIP and left a nice clean surface.

there it is still wet, but it all dried without spots.

After I had a nice clean surface, I decide it would be time to clay bar it before waxing. Turtle Wax® decided to due a liquid clay bar, which left be quite leary. I read the directions over and over, and ended up claying the whole car, but was quite saddened. Coming off of the great car wash, the liquid clay was a let down. It did remove a lot of the smaller dirt particles, but it was insufficient at getting the tree sap and little overspray off. I was kinda saddened. I still felt imperfections for some reason where I hadnt before with other clays. I am used to the typical bars, and will probably be going back to them in the future as this was not up to my expectations. I dont believe it was anything I was doing wrong, but I have been mistaken before I guess. Id like to get a second opinion on it really and see how they felt about it.

Heres a pic of the actual clay product with hand applicator
This next 2 shots are with it clayed and no wax.

After the clay, I decided to use the wax. The paste was is a lot different that stuff I have used from Meguiars, Mothers, and the older Turtle Wax products. It takes a while to get the right mixture of moisture to paste on the applicator, but once you do, it does have an amazing wax. I ended up doing 2 light coats over the surface of the car, and it shines beauitfully I must say. I will continue to update with how it holds up and beads water later on. I was really impressed with the wax though, as I was with the wash. Also, it was nice being able to do it in full sunlight on warm paint where other non-synthetic waxes dont work as well. This worked great on alot of surfaces. I ended up using the microfiber towels throughout, which were quite soft. I was more than pleased with them also, but I had no doubt about them.

I am showing tomm and am more than pleased with how the car look with reflections and such. For quick detailing I will use the foam away and see how that works.

Heres some final pics for today. Also, I used the F21 Wheel cleaner I purchased myself and tire shine.

Thank you again to Turtle Wax and Dave, and I will continue more tomm!

Scotty - get something and get those mirror housings black agian they look faded - Other than that it looks good - I didn't think the liquid clay bar would be as good as the real thing. Thanks for the write-up

Re: Turtle Wax ICE Review

Yea I have some Back to Black Im going to use later. I didnt notice that till I saw the pics actually. Thanks for the tip!

Turtle Wax was looking for a representative to test out the new lineup and since Im a Moderator here and am fairly well known they let me do it. I felt bad for kinda not giving a great review for the clay, so Im going to give it another try next time before I totally write it off. If still not working for me, Ill give the remaining to a local to see there review of it just in case.

Scotty

No prob Dave!

James.... stop checking me out! haha.

Price is fairly reasonable. When I heard I was getting it, I looked up the prices and it is very comparble to that of Mothers, Meguiars, and other top names. I personally know that when I need more (each container they gave me was huge) Ill be getting more of the wax and wash.

scotty

Re: Turtle Wax ICE Review

I actually just purchased and used these products last weekend. My thoughts on the products are pretty much the same. Loved the wash and wax but the liquid clay bar just doesn't compare to the real thing.

Thanks for the review Scotty!

I think I’ll try this wash next time (I’m getting low).
Does the wax say it is safe for vinyl and plastic?

That's what impressed me! And that reflection shot - priceless.

Great review, Scotty. Glad you were totally honest (not that I had a doubt you wouldn't be!!)

Re: Turtle Wax ICE Review

I've used the ICE Products since last years All Scion show, I use the Liquid wax and the quick detailer, absolutely love them, in fact before one show last year I used the quick detailer all over the plastic in the interior, its safe for that and it left it really shiny, I would recommend the wax and quick detailer to everyone. Good review, I won't spend my money on the claybar...

Re: Turtle Wax ICE Review

I've used the Liquid Polish and the Clay. On the my Blue Xb both products seem to work ok, but it leaves streaks that can be a pain to work out. I have noticed that if I do nothing about the streaks they go away on there own after a couple of days. It doesn't seem to gloss over minor scratches as well as some other products I've used. Over all I like to use it just for the fact that you can use it in direct sunlight (I have no shade any where) and I like that you can use it on all exterior surfaces (except glass of course).
The Clay I've used it on some of the other cars and I've found that it can be a bit of a pain to remove. After having followed the instructions I found that it left a white residue on the car. After repeatedly rinsing one car I still couldn't get it off and wound up washing the car all over again before I finally got it off.
