no. try this to get the stuff off of them at the end of your polish/buff

let the pad spin (upside down) and GENTLY run a screw driver over the pad. now BE CAREFUL and watch what direction your pad is spinning, otherwise you are going to get PWNED

I would not do that^^^^^ might take a chunk out
Clean them under warm/hot water with a good degreaser type dish washing soap like Dawn then rinse very well and set face up to dry.

it wont take a chunk out if you run it in the correct direction, and GENTLY. I've done it for years.
