| Re: XB with spare wheel on the hatch? i'll be building it my self, i have the means and knowhow to do it. just wanted to see something similar on the xB before i did it.
ToyBox, what do you mean by "actuators instead of gas shocks"? this is going to be a full steel 3 point construction with greased hinges on one side and a single point lock down on the other. it'll swing out to the right side. the back side will allow for dismounting the spare and will also have plenty of room to store road side tools like the tire iron, sizzor jack, jumper cables, chains and and a compact air compressor *yes it'll all fit, it's all inside the bowl of my temp spare in the cargo area right now and well hidden away.* |

and maybe try to make it flip down to make it easier to get in the hatch...
i wanna see ur finished product cuz it sounds like ur idea is the same i started out with |

| Re: XB with spare wheel on the hatch? ^^that is a good point there that i didn't think about. then again, even though it's a full size spare, if the tire that pops is of the oposing direction of rotation than how the spare is mounted then it's not much trouble to go to the nearest tire shop ASAP after change the flat out with the spare and having the spare remounted and balanced for that specific rotation. atleast around here most places don't charge more than about 15-20 bucks to do it. |

| Re: XB with spare wheel on the hatch? cause of the weight on the hatch, your need super duty gas shocks! |
