| How's this for appearance? I rear ended a Ford Expedition with a bike rack sticking out--I was only going approx 12 mph--didn't even get out of 1st gear--the bike rack caused $6700 damage--makes me wonder about the safety of the box. |

| Re: How's this for appearance? actually what appears to be "massive" damage is what makes our vehicles safer to the occupants... they (and almost all smaller vehicles) are designed to collapse like that upon impact absorbing the brunt of the collision and dissipating the energy to help cushion the passengers... unlike the cars of old that didn't have the "crumple" zones and wrecks caused many more injuries and deaths |

| Re: How's this for appearance? The ford only had $400 damage--new trailer hitch and bike rack--I think if I was going 30 mph the car could have been totaled. Insurance dorks said if damage cost is about 70% the value of the car they would total it. I hit some MILF giving her punk son driving lessons--he kept starting and stopping.
You're right Raven...the car crumpled and nothing happened inside the cabin of the car or to me--all those parts add up quick $$$.

| Re: How's this for appearance? LOL--that was a good one dude! I don't know about unstoppable, but I'd feel much safer with something on the front and back bumpers. Has anyone put a bull bar/push bar on the front of their box? That would be interesting to see. |

| Re: How's this for appearance? Our box was in a bad wreck. Hit two cars going about 30. The box held up great. That is why we went and got another one right away. Both people walked away without a scratch. |

| Re: How's this for appearance? also know that the brunt of the damage is ABOVE the crash bar, so all of the crumple based material took all the energy instead of the crash bar...
the damage is nastey... and i recently have been having to deal with one hell of a paint massacre on my box... but honestly, if you were still in 1st and at that speed... think there was an operator's error... not trying to be a jerk for any reason, just sayin...
ALOT of the amount estimated for damage is cosmetics. the pieces i see damaged are bolt on pieces in my observation from your images. you could probably pick up alot of the parts you need from some junk yards here and there. the downer will be the paint, that's it...
i would suggest that this is a good time to consider getting a CF hood... for the amount of cash you may be spending, might as well get a CF hood for the looks cause it'll cost less then getting a OEM hood and getting the paint mixed and matched. you can get a new OEM bumper for roughly 90-100 bucks *that's before paint*, the lower lip for roughly 70-80 bucks *again before paint* and then the hood is going to run roughly 160-180 bucks *before paint*. radiator support parts can be grabbed from 100-200 bucks and if you don't care what color they are, no need for paint other then some rattle can paint. radiator will probably be the higher priced part other then a CF hood if you go that route.
that's just my two cents, then again i do alot of the work my self so this is how i see it. insurance pay off, you could probably pocket half of what comes to you if your insurance covers it. |

| Re: How's this for appearance? They are built to break/absorb impact.... Not be a tank, and send you flying threw the windscreen. Saturn was one of the first to start mainstreaming this system.... Instead of being a lot of metal, there is just enough to keep you safe. The rest is made to break in order to soften the blow. |
