| Farewell to Fall - Winter Mode in Effect The forecast for Saturday includes snow, so I need to put the car into winter mode. I washed the undercarriage thoroughly, grabbed my rust proofing gear and jacked up the car.
I sprayed two coats of the truck bed coating to my rear inner fender lips (the paint cracked when I rolled them), and my suspension received a couple layers of Liquid Wrench's White Lithium Grease.
This stuff works really well. It sprays on as a liquid and thickens over time so it won't run on any temperature. It acts as a water repellent and rust inhibitor.
Time for a break. Since I just recently turned 21, I figured I would have my first beer while working on the car (like what all them old folks do).
Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of alcohol to begin with, so it wasn't very pleasant. I was satisfied with a glass of OJ.
Back to work. I brought up my winter steelies from the basement. Hankook iPikes FTW!
Out with the old, in with new. Look at the pretty tread patterns.
I finished at around 5:30, and it was already so fucking dark out. Sorry for the crappy photo. Better photos will be up tomorrow! :hurray:
Goodbye for now, TRD wheels. I'll see you guys again next Spring. Don't mind the masking tape on the wheel; that's how I mark which side the tire was on. |

| Re: Farewell to Fall - Winter Mode in Effect those Hankook iPike's look damn close to Nokian's Hakkapeliitta line.
stil looks beefy and intimidating though, i love the look of them both.
EDIT:
be careful with the bed liner stuff. i used some on mine and it doesn't completely dry and it likes to spew up a tar like coating on the outside... it CAN wash out... but it's a pain.

| Re: Farewell to Fall - Winter Mode in Effect ^ yeah the Hankooks are the cheaper version of those.
As for the bed liner, I've used the lithium grease on the fender lips before so if the paint fails me, I could always go back to the grease. Since the grease is thick, there's a pretty good layer of protection but since winter means salty roads, I wanted to try something new.
I drove the car to work today and I can't believe how different these tires feel. My Parada Spec-2s have a really stiff sidewall, and my iPikes have a really soft sidewall. I feel like I'm on stock suspension again. |

| Re: Farewell to Fall - Winter Mode in Effect no, not really, just helps prevent early corrosion. salted roads can cause hell if you have exposed metal... i unfortunately do , my driver side fender has a small exposed spot right on the edge around the wheel well. the cold has caused the paint to crack a bit on one spot and there's a bit of rust starting there. gotta bust out some sand paper and a can of clear coat OR... since i have to take it into the shop anyone to get nearl 5,000 dollars worth of damage fixed on the paint anyway, i might be able to get them to take care of it. |

| Re: Farewell to Fall - Winter Mode in Effect I just put mine into winter mode a few days ago. Got my factory 7-Spokes with my winter tires on. Looks kinda funny but my Akita's are nice and warm in my dad's garage until next year! |

| Re: Farewell to Fall - Winter Mode in Effect At least you have real wheels for winter mode. I just have boring steelies. People started thinking that my real wheels got stolen. I might buy some white tire paint and paint in the "Winter iPike" on my sidewalls to show that the steelies are only for the season. Yeah, steelies are embarrassing to me. |

| Re: Farewell to Fall - Winter Mode in Effect ^^^I actually LOVE the steelies in the winter. When asked about them, I say they're winter shoes for my Box...
Besides, my Box sits all winter on my driveway.Sees only snow around it, NO SALT! |

Thanks so much. |
