ok.... i have wanted a lambo door kit for my box for a long time and now it is finaly time to stock up parts throught the winter and make the bix look new for the spring, how much should i expect on spending on a kit for a 2004 xb? i dnt want to break the bank and i dnt want to break the hinge the first time i open the door. input such as links to online kits, your feedback on various kits, if you have a kit on your box are you pleased with it?

i have seen these things for rediculous prices. but i have also seen some people selling them for really cheap. i think it all depends on reliability and quality.

Most kits are virtually identical in make.

You need to make sure the shocks can support the weight of your door, if not... buy replacements, but MOST IMPORTANTLY get them installed at a reputable shop.

Installation in this matter is WAY more important than brand name/price.

In generall, there are two styles of hinges:

I echo that you should have a shop do the work. Not only does that make the fittment correct, it covers you when there is a warranty replacement on the shock. You live in a cold climate during the winter. That spells doom for struts like this. Don't expect them to function very well in the winter, they don't here in Iowa. Eventually they will fail and you're not lifting that door every day without the assist.

Very important note: Don't drive with your doors open. This instantly voids the warranty and is extremely hard on the parts and the mounting points.
