Friends are only your friends as long as you don't place higher than them.
The moment you get a First or Best of, and they either got Second, Third or didn't place at all, the jealousy monster rears its ugly head and all heck breaks loose. It also has to do on how one was raised/spoiled also.

<~~~~~~~Speaking from experience. | I read your post right after I finished mine, looks like a lot of similarities. Just sucks that it ends up the way it does. |

| Padanky,
I to beat out a more wild hot lava xb with turbo and air bags for best scion xb wild. My body kit was even cracked and the rear lip was just stuck on. The hot lava one was filthy and the wiring looked thrown together for the audio.
I was shocked to win but after hearing more about the attention to detail he lacked and I had (cleanliness) I understand. I now need to step it up a notch since I have to be in wild.
Most important thing is make sure the car you build is something you are happy with. |

| The Elegance Box actualy beat out Jambox down at Heatwave Padre this past weekend. I found out that Jay(Owner of Jambox) went down to Mexico and had a good time the night before and got to the show late and his box wasn't opened for interior judging.
People don't understand the importance of cleanliness at shows. A fresh wash and wax before is very important. |

| But also depends on type of shows you go too. I won 3rd place import at a car show wasnt a big car show just a local annual car show and i dont have much just was really clean and had something different then others.. stuff i did myself not had other do for me. Barry (hip-2b-sqr) was there and he got 1st place and another guy we know got 2nd..
so if doing local and smaller shows may not need lots of mods or wild mods like you may need to do bigger shows like HIN and NOPI.. |

| my buddy adam has the #1 scion (which happens to be an xB) in the N.C.C.A.
he placed third OVERALL in the toyota division against corporate celicas, and he was completely unsponsored. this year i helped him redo the entire interior, and he's got an audio sponsor. i'd look out for him |

| Wow. Those are awesome xB's. So I'm guessing Ames has a car wash because I know that's where I'm going when we show up. LOL. I'm painting my engine cover soon and I'll post it. Today in art I drew up some side graphics that might look good on Toaster. We'll see. TTYL |

| speaking of wash and wax...
...for those with graphics that are not painted on, do you have to wax around it or can you wax right over it? do you end up with a wax build up along the outline of the sticker/graphics? |

| if thats the one i think it is, its the one where he did all of the work himself right?
dont be so damn cynical darren. body kit, shaved handles, custom paint, crazy audio, and other nice touches. theres no suprise that it can win IMHO. it was at WOW (or maybe HIN, i dont remember) in KC but i couldnt go . i think some of Scinergy IA people saw it if im not mistaken.
looks good IMHO. no reason to hate.

| Best XB I think everyone has posted the just of it. I would just say this. Build the car for you not for judges or for other people. If you like chrome go with chrome if you like black rims go with black its all about building the car for you. I wouldnt build the car to place at shows. Build it up to what you personally want it to look like and start hitting shows up. Go to the show to have fun not to win a trophy then when you do win a trophy it will mean so much more. In the mean time hit up as many shows as you can and have a blast... |

| yeah he did all the work himself. this year i helped him redo everything, so it was just to two of us doing it all. he travels a LOT with the car, as he competes in the NCCA. it is over the top, but its over the top for a purpose: to win shows. hes taken home countless best of shows, best scion, best toyota/other... its got mod count and attention to detail, fabrication is fantastic, its just about flawless. its not JDM, its not simple, its not for everybody. its just cool! haha. if you want to compete competitively, you need to go this route. |

| oh also build the car for you. get what you want out of it. if u want a show winner you may end up w/ a car u dont like cause youll do mods that are consider *****. alot of top show cars have some mods in the car that are like WTF?!?!?! but yeah do it for yourself. If you want to do magazines, its all about style and execution. the best magazine cars don't necessarily make the best show cars. =) |

holy crap that car looks like a poo poo swirl. ncca doesnt mean anything. not bashing you, but theres not as much competition back east as there is on the west coast not to mention 80% of all ncca events. |
