Follow these instructions to reset the computer. If they don't come back on the next time you drive, it was something trivial, nothing to worry about. If after resetting them, they come back on the next time you drive, then you have a problem. DIY: ECU Reset w/o disconnecting the negative terminal Quote:

Please let me know if you guys could also help me reset the lights, or fix any mechanical problem that i have. | Step one. Don't let a woman drive your xB.
Step two. Repeat the directions posted for TOYOTARY69.
There is most likely serious damage to both your drums, brake pads, and maybe even break lines. If when you press the break you can feel the car studder a bit while slowing down, then you will need to start replacing parts. |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? Hey guys,
just joined up and am having a similar problem. have the '3 stooges' lights on (VSC, Tracker, Chk Eng) but am pulling a code P0171 "Sytem too lean (Bank 1)"
the code reader also gives a lot of other data. tried cleaning the maf sensor (yes with the correct type of cleaner). but it didn't do anything. also, checkd the gas cap (after reading a ton of threads).
2005 automatic. great car. 1st real problem 167k miles. K&N airfilter (only add on) and is clearn. running great despite lights. the only thing that's changed in a few weeks since the light has been on is that i've started using E85 "Flex Fuel" (85% ethanol). doesn't seem to bother the car still runs great.
Anyway, anyone familiat with this code? can someone direct me to where codes may be explained? i notice Sakura is keeping good tabs on this and would appreciate any help.
Had to post here as a newbie. sorry fir the inconvenience. but didn't know where else to start. |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? That code just states that it looks like the engine runs lean (not as much gas burnt as expected). Of all the possible things that can cause this code, the O2 sensor seems most likely because of the mileage. Factory manual also lists bad MAF sensor, Temp sensor, bad fuel injector as possibilities but since you don't seem to have any driveability problems i guess the it's the first O2 sensor throwing the code. Gasoline quality may have affected it especially if it is at the end of it's life.
Try clearing the code first, see how fast it comes back. |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? mine keeps going on and coming off. I have no mods to my intake or anything. I tried to diagnose it, and it said my cam angle sensor is out, but i don't think that would trip those lights..
they'll come on one day then a few days later, go off...
what the eff. |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? Well, rather than start a new thread I thought I would see what I could find here...
I have a similar issue as above but I keep getting the knock sensor code....P0325...car is right at 61,000 miles - just outside the warranty...so I am trying to diagnose this a bit myself. The light ALWAYS comes one within 36hrs of filling up the tank, it will stay on for a a couple -3 days and go off by itself. then when I fill up - withing 36hrs it comes back. The car runs ok when the lights are on - there is a drop of about 3 mpg that occurs when the light is on.
I have had the code read several times and that is always what comes up...so is it likely that it really is the sensor or something else? |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? P0325 is a knock sensor code but it doesn't appear to be applicable on xB. At least it's not in the factory manual. Sure about the number? |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? yep, had it read several times...the light went off again when I started it up today...I did find a TSB that relates to this issue on 04-05 models and my vin falls under that so I have a feeling that might be the root of the problem. I did call the dealer for an estimate on the repair...they said 200-300 bucks but seeing as the part at auto zone is $180 I doubt that estimate is accurate. It is just wierd that it comes and goes as it does; very frustrating. |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? I’m getting the popular P0012 “Intake Camshaft Position Timing Overretarded (Bank 1)” error now. Bought my ’06 xB in December, just crossed 70k miles so I’m sure it’s a no-win with the dealer, even though there’s a TSB and my VIN falls within the range noted.
I’m going to attempt a conversation w/ the local dealer today, and see what happens. I’m even willing to split it & pay labor if they cover parts. The TSB covers it until 60k miles, and I’m sure it’s a number they pulled out of their a$$e$. A faulty part is a faulty part. |

| Re: VSC, Check Engine, Trac Off ????????? Hey guys
wow, with only a quater tank down on a new fill w/o any ethanol, my 3 boggies went off! i think from all the input the O2 sensor must have picked up the change in combustion and threw up the lights. but we're back to normal now. thanks again.

Called the dealership, talked to the Service Mgr about 2 weeks ago, he said he'd see what Toyota could do. Next day said they'd do parts I'd do labor (which I had said I'd do) for ~$100. Ordered the part & last week set me up for today.
So hopefully I'll have good news around 6pm today. |

I have a 2006 5spd and last night I swapped out the cam position sensor between the 2 and now I need to put in some miles to see if it pops back up again...and if so in which vehical. |

Very polite & courteous, both directions, and a happy outcome. Even for a car w/ 72k miles and 2nd-3rd owner. |
