Turbo?

I bought my 2005 xB (manual) 6 months ago and since have completed all the necessary maintenance. I have saved up enough money to purchase a turbo kit plus a lightened flywheel and aftermarket clutch. Is it worth turbocharging the xb? Is it reliable? If so which kit is the best one to go with?

Re: Turbo?

Not sure which one is the best. I am making my own stainless turbo man. Should be done in the next month....or 2. with my turbo upgrade There is alot out their to choose from. From what I understand turbo is better for the xb then s.c.. Have not tried either yet, sorry.

Re: Turbo?

The Greddy kit is ok if you aren't looking for crazy power. It just gives the box a little extra go.

Re: Turbo?

honestly, i wouldn't lighten the fly wheel. your not going to be making enough power to benefit from it. Chances are you going to end up reving right threw your power band.

Re: Turbo?

Thanks for the input. I have decided against turbo charging the xb. I will be installing ZEX dry nitrous kit at the end of this month. Then I don't have to worry about all the tuning and labor involved. Plus I save money due to lower cost and no need for the flywheel.

I will save the turbocharging upgrades for the 1990 Nissan 300ZX TT.

Re: Turbo?

I have a Greddy supercharger on my 2005 xb and honestly in gas it all depends on whether you have a heavy foot. I bought the Supercharger or the turbo one because it more reliable more your daily drive and two because there is less comlications that you would have versus having a turbo. If anything were to happen to your supercharger all you have to due is remove it from the intakemanifold and install back the stock. And reality scion xb are not ment for racing. I put my supercharger in because i wanted more of a push. But its your ride bro due what you want because its your mods and whatever makes you happy.

One more thing if your worried about gas. Then i advise you to check out the Blitz supercharger because you can adjust your system you how heavy your foot is and how you drive. I think thats pretty cool because Greddy doesnt have that unless you upgrade your emanage system.

Re: Turbo?

doesnt matter if you can adjust it or not you still gotta pay for premium. not sure where you are but for me that would be at least $4.63

Re: Turbo?

just make sure you have money saved for when turbo-ing a non-turbo car. just for when things go bad.
