So i was looking at my throttle cable and it seems to have some play... is this normal or does it have to be adjusted?? i know that theres a screw on the throttle to adjust the idle rpm but as far as the cable goes, i dont know about it... anyone have some input on this?
There should be a slight play at the cable. There are no idle adjustments though. You can regulate the play by losening and moving 2 nuts at the cable's bracket on the throttle body. You can make the play minimal, but don't adjust as far as when your throttle plate is not on the rest set screw anymore.
i asked about this cus when i step on the gas pedal, i get a lag for the engine to respond.. i know it happens to everyone but i wanna get rid of that lag...
The cable is set slack at the factory by design,
It only opens @75% this is how they got it to pass MPG ratings.
If you take out the slack without effecting rpm's you will get better
response at the throttle and it will open all the way
so i finally adjusted the play in the throttle cable... the first time i adjusted it, the idle rpm was at about 1000rpm... i kinda messed around with the throttle screws to fix the idle rpm but after a while of messing with it i kinda figured since its fuel injection, the ecu would automatically adjust the idle rpm..
i got rid of some of the cable play but now i have to test it out on the street..
