Exclamation rollhard thanks but

i have more than you can see. mine is the snorkel type the filter sits way down by front fender. and since the very top of filter sits 1 inch below foglight cover i do need bypass and i dont get heat from exhaust, by the way i agree the exhaust side is a bad spot for drawing air, after turning down it angles away and toward front end. then attaches to trans bolt for securment then it upturns under foglight area it never gets close to exhaust side. here is a better pic of whole system. thanks for the heads up its always better when every body shares pos and neg experiances

the intake setup into the grill only benefits if you have an open grill.

and i dislike the trd intake as well . too much , too many bends , over the transmission , and blah , lol. not hating just stating.

both the aem "L" pipe and the injen have the best dyno results.

mine has the filter close to the same place as the trd/aem snake pipe but it hs only one bend and sits a few inches higher than the trd one does.

Question what

chopped please explain did you get it really wet or do you have one of early versions that put valve train vent in before sensor thus killing many sensors cus mine enters after all sensors by throttle body avoiding coating sensors

not only can the pcv hose coa and ruin a maf , an overoiled / improperly oiled filter element can as well.

yeah other than k&N only other filter i'd use on most cars would be apexi. uni's are decent. a lot better on a bike where i'm not as worried about service life.

The long intake plumbing is a waste. The longer the plumbing, the more friction there is. The more friction there is, the more heat. So, you basically defeated the purpose of having the filter located in a position where the air temperature is cooler. Another thing to consider is air pressure and density. Is the filter located in a low pressure region? As far as the intake not working well unless their is an open grill, I can prove it on the dyno. The slots on the stock grill are cut out so there is plenty of pressurized air. We make our own filters with velocity stacks inside the filter so it will be hard finding one that is going to outflow what we use already. Apexi does make a very nice filter though.

Thumbs up thanks

rollhard thanks for the info. my intake was a dealer add on negotiated at purchase before i new about what function they performed. i bought it cause of improved fuel economy. i tottaly understand the concept of shorter distance, les friction, cooler air, better pressure = more power. after all i grew up when muscle cars first came out, and ram air is THE shortest way. when i can afford it ill change to that.

Hehe, although there is a BIG difference between modern EFI and old school muscle cars. Muscles cars of the past have horrific volumetric efficiency, hence why they went with the whole "bigger is better" type of thing. We now make more power than ever with tiny motors....yada yada, I know what you mean though.
