Problem with A/C

My air conditioner stopped working. The fan still works but no A/C.

The A/C button doesn't light up when pushed so I'm thinking electrical. I've checked all the fuses, both under the dash and in the engine compartment, pulled the dash off and made sure the switch was plugged in. Belts are fine. Could there be a breaker or reset button somewhere? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Problem with A/C

So if the blower works at all 4 speeds but the light on the AC switch doesn't come on you may want to double check the 7.5amp AC fuse. If it's fine, try bypassing the switch between #3 and #2 terminals.

Re: Problem with A/C

may need to recharge the A/C. the free-on gas does get old which will make the car not blow out cold air. also check the antifreeze level.

Re: Problem with A/C

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm a little embarrassed though. I decided to go back over everything, ripped the dash apart, checked the switch with a voltmeter, checked the wiring at the compressor, checked the fuse box one last time and, sure enough, it was the fuse. I must of missed it the first time.

So, once again, thanks for all the help.

Now I know why I never get invited to Tech day.

Re: Problem with A/C

I just bought an 05 Xb with 55K on it 2 months ago from a dealer here in Socal. I wanted to know if these cars have a history of not blowing cold air? Since I bought the car I've have not used the AC often due to cool weather, but in the past couple of weeks its been hot. So I've been using the AC and noticed the air is not as cold as I would like it be in hot weather? I can tell the difference from previous owned cars that blew ice cold freezing air compared to just blowing cold air that will take a while to cool the interior? I don't know if the systems needs to be recharged or if this is normal for 1st gen xb's. I am planning to take the car back to the dealer to have them respray the front bumper, other things I want to them to fix, and to tell them to recharge the AC?
Thanks
