Re: My Engine Blew Up!

Well, I'm kinda depressed to hear so many people say this a cheap piece o shit engine. I love the car though and if my engine blows I'd love to put something better in there rather than just rebuild the "piece o shit" that's in there. Would i be able to put a 1.8 ltr engine in there and if so, what other things would have to be change? Is there a specific 1.8 ltr that is reputed to be "the best" or a great engine in terms of performance and durability?

Re: My Engine Blew Up!

so they had no problem doing a warranty with your mods on ?? that seems cool - I was just thinking that I could bolt everything back on in case I had to take it in.
Did you have the supplimental warranty or just the factory Scion/ Toyota warranty ?????

Re: My Engine Blew Up!

Dude - so was it just your factory warranty that comes with the car that covered you or was it the Additional Service agreement that toyota offers that hooked you up with your new motor ????

Re: My Engine Blew Up!

You guys got me freeking out now... I use to regularly jump off the line at every green light at 4,000 RPMS and run right up to 6 RPM's before shifting to second and third, and on highways, even forth.

I've red lined several times and even hit the limiter on a few occasions.

My engine is at 13,500 miles right now, just turned a year old. SO FAR I haven't noticed any problems, but rescently I've been driving much easier on my engine, not due to reading this thread, just because I'm trying to save some gas and I know it's not a healthy habbit to hit 6,000 RPM's.

I just purchased the TSI Turbo kit, have yet to install it, now I'm questioning the installation. I'm pretty sure I'll still do it, but I'll have it max boost at 6. If you guys think that'll be too much, let me know. I'm not really looking to make much horsepower from it honestly. I'd like there to be power when I need it. It's more for the look and sound of a turbo that I'm going for.

Re: My Engine Blew Up!

You can do some searches for turbos. Main point is that these engines are not made to handle much if any boost at all. Toyota did not put a lot of extra into them. Internals are good to look into.

Re: My Engine Blew Up!

Why the hell would you wanna put a honda engine in a toyota? Honda makes good engines, most people think toyotas engines are best.If i wanted a honda, i'd have bought an element. If and when my engine blows, I will replace it with a larger toyota engine (probly a 1.8)
