| holy crap what is up with this serious detonation doing on wow. shit is just grenading damn.
sounds like too lean is exactly what happened with dustins rocket but. wow
don't know how or why the ecu isn't seeing that and then going into safe mode aka limp home mode.
oh and dustin about you thinking you run too rich via all the carbon. these motors do run pretty rich basically pretty inefficient motors. |

| Damn the casting is thin on these motors, look where the holes are. Looks like 1/4" at most in some places, or is that an optical illusion? |

| there's a reason you can get these motors in longblock for as cheap as 150. |

| what's the mileage and driving habits in these cases. I doubt these cars had that problem in Japan. Why? I rolled 29K on my car and I bet there are similar bB's there that have barely rolled 10K if that. The cars aren't driven the way we have to thanks to their excellent public transportation methods. This worries me. I really don't get o the car that hard. I leisurely drive it when i have it out. I putz along quite literally. |

Because the epa has put such restrictions on the automakers about better gas mileage and there are no new and reliable answers yet they are trying to remove weight. For every 100 lb is 0.5 mpg.
I am in the casting realm alot (even got to work on the Mag engine cradle for the new Z06) and the answer in the future is magnesum, but this has some serious reaction and casting problems. Instead the quality of the castings are improving and allowing it become thinner. (quote: Magnesum is the material of the future and will always be that way)
I must not that where it blew out was not a point where high impact forces are susposed to happen.
I am glad to see however that they are being fixed and the problem is being noted in detail form incase a recall is needed. |

I've had my car for 4 months and have 6500 miles already.
This kind of worries me, dont need to blow up my motor.. my engine is pretty stock. All I have is a TRD exhaust.
Oil changes done every 3500 miles and using mobile 1 syn oil.. next oil change is coming up too |

| holy crap viet!!! thats some major grenading. mine had 2 holes but i only saw one since my dealership did all the work. one in the front that i posted and another where the oil pump used to be.
mine and im pretty sure viet's are manual transmission cars. my car has about 25,000 miles on it. daily driven, unfortunatly since im getting on and off major highways all teh time i have to get on it a little bit to get up to highway speed without getting hit by tractor trailers and dumptrucks and what not.
who else in NoVa blew an engine? i only knew of one other person that threw a rod, it was Tamago with a xA on scionlife. threw it for no reason he knew of. all he had was a cold air intake and it wasnt raining out. |

i have the same shifting habits as the one and only thundergod and solara2xb. 4000/80 mph on highway drives, @4000 for shifts when i need power, sometimes 5k |

I blew it up on nov 5th at import vs domestic. car was running perfectly and belt didnt slip...so i put like over 180whp down and well...car couldnt handle it and blew when i was on 2nd gear. car was running rich too. i blew 2 rods and 2 pistons out. My motor can be found on displayed at Ptuning! My car was covered under warrenty too...thanks to Lustine Scion, Ptuning, and Justin!
Justin blew his xA cause he put a 100 shot of nitrous in his car
Beau blew his xB cause he was going 80mph and actdently downshifted to 2nd
Johnny blew up his tC cause of bad tuning

| OMG I just saw this.. um I drive the H*LL out of my xb about 60mi round trip each day and only do under 80 if traffic or redlights. and sometimes am pretty harsh on the acceleration. and i have gotten it to red line in first and second a few times.. never hit limiter but have gotten to red line.
but want to know what it meant by "found excessive clearence in oil pump causing hole in engine block." |

thining the castings would make like a 10 pound weight reduction.
these motors havent changed since their inception. they didn't make em thin for the epa. they made em thin cause theyre cheap garbage motors. |

how on earth with just forced induction did you have 180whp?
i'm guessing since you have pics of teh motor on a stand in what looks like someones personal garage all of the above are lies. i have no reason to believe as to why ANY dealer would warranty that.
and 180whp? without n20? hmmmm |
