| Re: The Intake Thread If you are looking for just a aftermarket filter (like K&N) that drops intothe stock air box- that will not make much difference. Complete new intake system will change how the engine sounds and may add one or two HP. The drop in gas mileage will only happen if you change the way you work the gas pedal. Hearing the engine and trying to feel the added power will make you want you to step on gas harder than you normally would. |

| Re: The Intake Thread Okay, so I've read this whole thread and I can see that I am not alone in the MPG going down when installing an intake...whether it be from getting in the pedal or just plain fact of nature. Anyway, I can also assume from what people are saying is that when an intake is combined with exhaust then MPG should rise, yes/no??
So, logically then when adding an intake MPG go down roughly 4+ MPG (this is a guess from a previous person's experience, not my own...so far). Then when adding a nice cat-back exhaust MPG's go back up 4+ MPG....yeah?
The reason I am asking (and beating the crap outta this dead horse) is because I too recently installed an exhaust and reset the computer....well, I burned through a 1/4 tank of gas in no time at all. So I am wondering if MPG's would go back up with the installation of said exhaust? |

| Re: The Intake Thread I rock a Ebay intake with a couple O'reillys build-a-intake pieces to make the filter sit right in the middle of the spot where the foglight would be if I had some.lol It works great & sound good and only cost like $55 bucks. |

| Re: The Intake Thread Not really. I would keep it. Either way there isn't too much of a gain with a sri or cai on our cars :/. Plus people have less hydrolocking issues with the ram air . |

| Re: The Intake Thread Hey guys. Was driving this week in the rain and unfortunately had too much come in from my CAI and my engine just stop. I am still waiting for the final say but I think it when into Hydro lock. Do any of you guys know a reliable engine rebuild place or do you think I should get a use engine in place. Let me know if you know a good place in south California because is where I am located. Thanks and peace. Beware the water. |
