I installed it no problem. It was weird though that instead of the filter hanging down it was sticking up behind the driver's headlight. I went online and checked to make sure it was correct and it was. So, I installed it and it worked great for 2 days and then it rained. I guess rain gets in to the filter behind the light and since it's sticking up the piping acts like a cup and holds all the water. The bypass will only open if the filter is submerged in water. So in my case it stays closed and the intake slowly sucks in the water and the motor sputters and the vsc, trac off and check engine light all come on. I just ordered a injen hydro shield hoping it will fix my problem. If not, I'll be cutting off the part of the pipe that turns up. I guess thats why AEM doesn't sell this style of intake for the xb anymore. I'll keep you guys posted on the progress. |

I have a 05 xb and bought it brand new back in 04 with a AEM cold air intake system. I can tell you that just getting an intake system will not give you much power but if your just looking to have your engine sound cool it will do the trick.
I personally wanted more power so I put some DC ceramic headers and here came the power. Now just shopping around for a cat back system to finish the breathing on the vehicle. about the hydro lock with my AEM system I have no problems it sounds a little funny when submerge but I never had a problem because of the AEM technology Cold air filter system. I don't like Short ram filters because they don't give you any power. I have had my system for a long time and never had problems with it. I install everything my self and can tell you if you want to install the intake system its easier if you take off the front bumper. Peace. |

| Re: The Intake Thread For reference, does installing a SRI, such as the Fujita, effect the air conditioning at all? I bought my box used with the SRI already installed and the AC will not stay charged and the used dealer claims this is because of the SRI. True? |

| Re: The Intake Thread Not true. The A/C should not be affected at all. I've had my Fujita short ram on since 2007 and the A/C worked great then, and great now. |

The SRI/CAI's do not retain this, hence failing the laws for california...according to what i've read. |

| Re: The Intake Thread I purchased an 05 Xb 2 months ago and was thinking of adding a aftermarket filter. By just reading the threads on this topic it seems that the filter may slightly increase power, but diminish gas mileage? I really want to keep MPG the same or increase it? I love this car, I wish I had bought one of these brand new instead of buying a truck when I had the cash? Everything is right in the universe since I now have an Xb. Just wanted to hear everybody's thought's? |
