The 2006 scion xb that I purchased has a SRI intake on it with a filter that says scion. I am guessing it was an option from the dealer when purchased brand new. Can anyone tell me if it is a filter that is supposed to be oiled or if it was one of the cheaper ones that don't use it. Any information would help on this.

If your filter looks dark red with a wire mesh screen around it, then yes, it needs to be cleaned and re-oiled periodically (see photo 1)

If it looks white in color it may be a dry filter and would not need oil, just a periodic cleaning (see photo2)

There are also foam and metal mesh filters that don't need to be oiled.
FYI- the only intake offered by the dealer was TRD CAI, not SRI.
