| Fujita CAI almost failure Times like this make me realise I don't think I should touch a car because I know i'll screw something else up. And today was no exception.
I received my Fujita CAI today and when I got home I was rearin' to get it thrown in. And I thought it would be that easy. How wrong I was. The removal of the stock air box was pretty easy and that just gave me a boost of morale as I continued. Of course that soon dissappeared the second I tried to put the first pipe in place. Low and behold my Megan front upper strut bar would not permit me to put the pipe in correctly. I tried to move the pipe in different positions and tried to angle the bar but it was a failure. And of course in the process of doing that I scratched the top of the pipe so now it looks pretty brutal. So I had to choose between my strut bar staying or the CAI being put in. I chose the intake.
Once I removed the strut bar and threw it on the ground in frustration, I continued with the installation. For some reason the mount was a pain in the ass to line up but I was able to get that correct, although i'm pretty sure I torqued and loosened the bolt that tightens the battery holder bar so much that if I do anything to it the bar will most likely break. That's failure #2.
The second pipe went it quite easily which somewhat restored my hope in this endeavor working. Then I got to the filter. I struggled for an hour to get it on. Undoing bolts, jiggling the pipe to fit the filter. I was an idiot to take the advice of the F5 guy I talked to on the phone when he said "if you have fog lights the filter will rub a little but it should be fine." Since there was such a small amount of space to work with even with the wheel well off I ended up scratching the mesh over the filter cloth so that looks a little bad. It just barely fit. Barely. That I consider failure #3.
Then I got to installing the hoses. I couldn't reach under the valve cover so I went to take it off. I didn't notice how much of an issue I was having getting the top right nut off and then the screw part snapped. That's failure #4.
So, all in all it took me 2 1/2 hours to break something, nearly break two other things, and make me feel like a complete dumbass.
Let the flaming begin. I accept all challengers. |

| Re: Fujita CAI almost failure Go with the short ram. The difference between the them is very minimal. I'm happy with mine. |

| Re: Fujita CAI almost failure i think the position of the short rams are pretty decent. And i think they get a good amount of cold air behind the headlight.
