04 Hood Stuck....

Search worked this time...no thread popped up....

My lever to open up my hood is not working. I pull it all the way up - but it doesn't release the hood. Any ideas how to get it open so that I can change my spark plugs?? I'd like to not have to take it to the dealer.

Thanks again!
Heather

I had the same thing happen not to long ago. You'll have to get behind the grill some how and pull the inside latch in the engine compartment. It was a real pain and the fellow car club member who did it ended up screwing up his arm. I would suggest taking it to the dealer and have them open it.

When you go to pull the handle under the dash, does it feel like it has tension? If not you might check the Hood release cable under the dash. the little | | piece seems to slide out of position on mine. it's an easy fix. (if that's where your problem is)

Re: 04 Hood Stuck....

I just went out and checked it out again. There is tension on the cord - it just won't pull out any further and release the hood. I took a pair of pliers to the wire to see if I could pull it out further - and it wouldn't. I can't see anything that is like l l anywhere.....and it doesn't seem to have anything out of place. Any more ideas?

Lucky for us - my husband has a mechanic that works for our machine shop. Anyways - he was able to show me how to feel my way around the latch and pop it open. Pretty cool too. So - thanks everyone for your help!
