Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

OK, the conversion will include:

All mounting hardware (bolts, washers, nuts, etc..)
CNC Machined Caliper Brackets
E-Brake Cable End Mounts
Cable Clevis’
Clevis Pins
Cable Stops
New Toyota Brake Rotors
New/ Remanufactured Loaded Toyota Brake Calipers (modified)
New E-brake Cable Mounts at Caliper (not the same as the stock one)
Rotor masks (so the inside and outside of the un-used portion of the rotor can be painted before installing it)
Brake Adapters for Stainless Line at the Chassis
Chassis Adapter Clips
Banjo Adapters for the Stainless Line at the Caliper
Stainless Brake Lines

The stock xA/xB rear hubs have to be modified for this conversion. So I am going to offer two different kits. One without hubs, so the DIY’er can mod their own (which I will post on here what has to be done and there will be instructions included with the installation instructions on how to mod them)

The second kit will include already modified/exchanged hubs, with a core charge. Then the core charge will be credited when I receive the unmodified customers hubs back and they have been tested. This kit will be a little more, but you’ll get a portion of it back with the returned hubs.

Note:
New E-brake Cable Mounts at Caliper (not the same as the stock one)
I had to have these laser cut. The new calipers don’t come with them, and Toyotas warehouse in America and Japan no longer carry them. The few I did end up buying from salvage yards were badly rusted!! So I just ended up making some new ones.

I think I’ve included everything about the conversion, except the price. Because I am not a supporting sponsor yet, please PM me for more information. I wasn't able to get below the $800 goal, but I tried. I just couldn't make it happen. Comparing it to another conversion on the market that runs $900.00, that utilizes the brake shoes inside the rotor hat for the e-brake (which is why I wanted to do this, to get away from the shoe set-up), and using used salvaged parts for their conversion. I think this will be vary competitive with all new parts, and a shoeless design!
Thanks,
Mike / Alliance AutoSports, LLC.

After someone mentioned something to me and speaking with a few people about this. I do not think I will offer this second kit the way I was planning to. I will modify anyones hubs who purchases a kit for a fee. The reason behind this decision, and it makes sense, is. Some guys run camber which has put a load on the bearings in the hub. Lets say I get some ones hubs that have 55,000 miles on them, and they were used on a cambered ride. So I modify them and send them out with the next kit. And 2500 miles down the road a hub fails. I would be the blame for selling a bad hub, and I don't want that.

So rather than an exchange I will offer the un-modified conversion (where you would modify the hubs) and a modified version that would include new modified hubs! This would eliminate anyone getting someone elses abused hubs. And then as stated above, if you want me to modify your hubs, I can do that for a fee. I would only need the hubs for one day, so they would have a fast turn around if any of you decided to go that route. Sorry for the change-up, I just want to do this right for everyone.

Thanks,
Mike / Alliance AutoSports, LLC.

Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

I talked to Wilwood today about my conversion and questioned them about me using a 3/8" caliper bracket rather than the 1/2" one I prototyped with. They said that they use 1/4" and 3/8" for their conversion, so they saw no problems with me using it for my kit, so I have decided to go with 3/8" caliper brackets. This will allow the guys with the OTG camber kit to use the conversion kit as well. Some or most of the camber guys use a OTG (3/8"-10mm) spacer with their camber kits, this caliper bracket will replace that 10mm spacer/shim. Just wanted to let those of you know, who asked about it working with the camber kits earlier in this post.

I also thought I'd post a couple more pictures, of the before and after shots.
The xB in out of the rain jacked up and ready to be converted!

And after

Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

Well, all the machined parts are done and all the parts that had to be ordered and modified are done. Now I'm just waiting on the machined parts to come back from plating and anodizing. Here are a few pictures of some of the anodized parts.

Should have the plated parts back real soon. Then I can start packing up the conversions and send them to their new owners!!!

Looks like a very well engineered kit! Black anodize is a nice touch.

Just for the record, this is not a Wilwood caliper I used in the kit. These are Toyota calipers. It just got off the subject towards the begining of this thread.

The kits are going good, and I'm working on the third run right now. I just wish more people would post pictures of them installed. I've only had one post pictures on SL , on his xA.

This is what he had to say about it: "This kit is just craziness, thing stops on a dime, best investment for my car!!! I highly recommend this for anyone, especially if you are autocrossing!!
They look and work awesome Mike, thanks so much, again and again!"

Heres a picture of the kit on an xA.
