Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

Well, it didn't come out. I started over with another caliper. Three actually. I'm on my third caliper and about the fifth rotor. I could have made the first one work on mine, but I want to do something that is a direct bolt on conversion. I don't want anyone to have to cut anything and thats how the first one would have ended up. So now I have a Toyota caliper and another rotor that should be here Monday or Tuesday. When I get the caliper and rotor mounted I will start over with a build up. Thanks for the interest!

Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

I now have the new caliper and rotor mounted and am working on the e-brake cable. Got tied up making a few other things while trying to figure out a caliper and rotor that would work. One being a fuel rail for the tC, and now an intake manifold for the tC. I know it has nothing to do with the xB but heres a couple pictures of the finished rail.

[IMG][/IMG]

I'll be able to get back on the rear brake like I was, as soon as I finish up the intake manifold.

Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

Bringing this back from the dead! After many calipers and rotors, I have the actual brake done! Now I'm working on the e-brake cable. So far I have tried the stock un-modified, an aftermarket cable kit, and now I'm back to a modified stock cable. Here are some pictures! Hope you enjoy!

Caliper mounted on mockup caliper bracket

Modified Toyota Caliper

Mock up and testing caliper bracket

Slightly Modded Toyota Rotor

Modified xB rear hub

Caliper bracket mounted (notice the only mod to the swingarm was bending the original brake line tab straight!

Caliper Mounted

Another view

And another to show how much clearance there is

And another inside the stock 15" steelies!

Heres a before and after on the brake line tab
Before
and after

Heres a picture of the stock un-modded cable mounted, but don't like it so ended up cutting the end off

Stock cable mount, cut!

Modified Cable with new cable mount I made

I am planning on getting this mounted so I can test it. Because I have an automatic, I can finish the ebrake cable with the conversion on. Then I can make sure everything is working like it should!

Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

Looks like this will be out soon, do you have a finish date and an estimate of cost?

Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

many props Mike looks great
cant wait to see the results
and it looks like (from pic 10 down)
that there is still room for spacers/camber?? between hub and your fabbed bracket?
maybe e-brake cable length issue

First, not 100% on the cost yet. Should be between 600-800. I know thats a big gap, but I have to see how much the production run of parts are gonna cost me.

The stock xB cable is about 3" to long for this caliper set-up (which is why I cut it), so I don't think there will be any length issues with the cable.

Re: wilwood rear disc conversion

I just pulled it out of the garage for a picture, then it went back in for front pads, front caliper paint, and sway bar endlinks. I just got finished with everything, so I haven't even taken it out yet.
