Angry Weird steering noise HELP!

Sup everyone,

I dont know if any of you have experienced this problem before. But when I have my steering wheel turned all the way to the right or all the way to the left I hear like a humming sound, this doesnt happen often but once in awhile when i am pulling into a parking spot. It doesnt seem like its coming from the brakes but I could be wrong, is it the steering column? I drive a 2004 XB. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Re: Weird steering noise HELP!

1st off gothbox is one truly unique individual here on CxB with a styling to his b's that sets his own personal styling que or is it cue hmmmm whatever lol, he doesn't run ps.

I don't think you'll need to have it replaced right away as you said it doesn't do it all the time. I'd certainlly keep an eye or ear out and possibly have it checked out you could be low on fluid maybe even change fluid.

You mean have the system flushed? Are there any other causes for the noise besides the power steering fluid? Thanks for your help, this forum has excellent support.

Re: Weird steering noise HELP!

you also just got an answer from another unique person, you'll find there are many here. hey that's what Scion is all about being united through individuality. Welcome to the Scion community and the Site.

Also a heads up to ya. The search feature does wonders if you're looking for info on most mods or upgrades to your B.
welcome again
ben

like black box says when you hear it or if someone is with you have them turn the wheel from side to side. under the hood on the passenger side near the firewall is where the pump is you'll be able to hear the noise from that area.

Re: Weird steering noise HELP!

Change in PS sound is normal when you max the wheel out in any direction. Unless you are hearig some really bad grinding or belt slipping.

Re: Weird steering noise HELP!

Also it could be your wheels rubbing the plastic inner fender wells. Just a thought?

Re: Weird steering noise HELP!

I just noticed the sound again today and it sounds like some metal part is not greased up enough, i checked the ps fluid and it is full so thats not the problem. keep the possibilities coming as I will check everything you guys suggest, thanks once again!
