| ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) Ok, I'm really debating on lowering it. I'm very familiar with the compromise of ride quality that some vehicles have when lowered, but not with xB's. I'm coming from previously having a slammed Eclipse for 6 years(which was actually great for the most part). I can't speak for xB's but Eclipse's are notorious for having problems with the shocks if you lower them on stock shocks, so I went with all aftermarket suspension..
My main question is if I was to lower my xB yet keep my stock shocks(atleast for awhile anyways), 1.) Is that too much stress for the stock shocks over time or any flaws in doing so?.... and 2.) Is there any kind of ride compromise I may experience?
I'm interested in getting the Tein S-Tech springs btw(if that matters). |

| Re: ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) You won't have any problems, but go with Tanabe Df210's. If you buy the S-Tech's you'll end up buying the Df210's later, everyone does. |

So I am a big Tanabe fan already I must say, but why is that you say people with s-techs buy the df210's later anyways? Why is that, due to quality drop size or what?
I only want a little drop, just anything to get ride of the stock height, Not trying to slam it like my Eclipse and go all out. Just something simple which is why I was considering the s-tech's anyways..how low do the s-techs go anyways?

| Re: ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) Evryone wants a little drop at first, but decide later that they want more, Df210's are the more. Toyota Echo front struts will give you another 1/2" drop up front too. |

| Re: ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) i was just like you a few months ago..when i was debating on lowering or not, and i for sure didnt wanna spend more to get shocks and stuff....
so i lowered my car with df210's, at first it was a good drop but later on i got annoyed because the ride wasnt smooth enough.so i got me some monroes for the rear...it improved it a bit
so yes, you will be ok with stock shocks...but im assuming that you will be like me, and get annoyed with the ride, and get new shocks...
oh yea..im still on the stocked struts in the front..they seem to ride ok, but the rears made me annoyed (well my passengers annoyed me, so i got annoyed lol), so i changed the rears...hopefully that helped you out a bit |

| Re: ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) spring shock combo post is the answer to all your questions here.
kyb's are the best bang for the buck. Put them on at least the rear, ($60) and you'll be uber happy with them. Hell I still have them on my rear with stock springs and struts up front. Still has good bite and rides great. (little stiff, but no as stiff as when using lowering springs) |

| Re: ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) Thanks Stenger. And i also checked out the spring/shock combo thread that I didnt come across until after starting this. Pretty good set ups in there. I just wish it had more pics with the Tein s-tech, h-tech, or TRD's. I think I've narrow it to those 3. I don't want a big drop at all, just want to loose a little stock height without compromising the ride quality, and Ive done a little research on the h-techs and they have the less drop amount of all and are pretty compatable with OEM shocks, so that may be the route I'm gonna go.
Thanks everyone. Much help though. |

I'm still deciding between the s-techs and h-techs(which ever one's i go with I want the best for stock shocks)..Really not wanting to upgrade from stock shocks unless I absolutely need to. That's another reason I was curious as to my options.
How much of a drop did you get all around on your s-tech's though? and out of curiosity what kind of shocks you have? (pm or post me pic if you could)..trying to see more pics of stechs and htech drops since the spring/shock combo thread only has so many |

| Re: ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) I got 40K on my S-Techs with stocks. But started with H-techs, then wanted lower. Now on Coilovers, cause the S-Techs weren't low enough either! |

I have the Monroe Sensatracs for the rear and OE up front. Ride is so much better than stock.
This is an older pic, but best profile shot I could find for now to show ride height. |

| Re: ? for those lowered xb's preferably ones w/stock shocks...(or aftermarket too) ^^Thanks. Nice ride by the way. Now I have a pic I can actually compare too. To be honest, that doesn't look too low I guess. I could atleast deal with that drop. Anything lower I wouldnt go for. Ive had my share of that
But I just have to get rid of this wheel gap....
Thanks again everyone for the insight and input.
