| Re: Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement You're gonna need to remove the entire rear suspension basically. But good news is it's nothing you can't tackle your self.
On previous cars, I've used the good ole torch method to remove bushings. I <3 Fire. |

| Re: Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement Best bet is to remove the components and take them to a local machine shop, they will press the old ones off and the new ones in for a few bucks.....clean and simple. |

| Re: Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement Suspension is not hard by any means. It just takes time, and patients. You can't rush it, and you can't force it. It's also something that if you don't feel comfortable doing, you shouldn't ever attempt it. Just like brakes. |

| Re: Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement Randy, I don't know if you would see much gain just by fitting some spherical bearings to the front busings. Without having a true link system the additional pivot isn't going to gain you much of anything. You may however see in increase in road noise and a decrease in comfort.
If anything, if you are looking for an upgrade you might look into some polyurethane bushings that could be swapped in instead of rubber. Beware though, this will stiffen up the rear suspension and possibly decrease ride quality. |

| Re: Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement A press is needed to remove the OEM bushings, The complete trailing arm assembly will have to be removed in order to press in the new bushings which includes removing the brakes from the suspension. Have someone who knowledgeable show you how/or do it for you.
Spherical bearings are a great idea for a track car, for daily use they actually wear out faster if you drive on imperfect roads. Not to mention everytime you hit a small bump/dip/or crack in the road it will sound and feel like you're going to rip your suspension apart.
Ploy bushings are the way to go for a daily drive, they're stiffer but actually make the suspension work better thus increasing ride comfort. When I had Energy Suspension R&D my xB I was expecting a harsh ride, as was their R&D guy, turns out that the ride was more comfortable and handles way better!
BTW: When removing the trailing arm assembly be warned that it's heavier than it looks. One person can carry it easily, but if the car is on a lift when you drop it make sure you support it or it will catch you by surprise.

| Re: Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement There are also hand presses available for use. We use them at work when lugging a giant gear box over to the press is too much. Which would just require dropping the bolts and letting the shocks hold it in place. |

| Re: Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement you would have to do research. SKF Timken Browning McGills all companies that make them, you just gotta find the ones that fit. Which is a little research.
Honestly, just do the bushings if you want an upgrade. They are well worth it. |
