| Re: Rear disc brake conversion? Hmmm...not looking like this mod is worth it overall. Its cool cuz it would set it apart from normal xBs. But the car weighs roughly 2300+ lbs I think... The money(and time) is probably better spent on a nicer set of front rotors, TRD pads, and stainless brake lines. Thanks for everyones imput!!! |

| Re: Rear disc brake conversion? "with your brakes," Toaster... "with your brakes." I can think of a few instances where coming to a "quick stop" would definitely be a bad thing. |

| Re: Rear disc brake conversion? Yeah which is why a set of 11s up front and 10 inch rear disc would be more than enough to stop with...
Stock breakin distance isn't to bad with our cars. Only real issue is the lack of weight on the car. When stopping fast, and hard on the breaks hitting a bump sucks.
Those who do some avid backroading will know what I'm talking about. The car almost starts to hop when it hits the bump. I've had a few scary encounters where the car almost didn't slow enough because of the hopping, that I almost missed a 90 degree turn on a road just barely wider than my car doing 50 before on the breaks.
Now I'm not saying that was the smartest thing to do, more so one of the dumbiest, but crxgames/cody will tell you... It was probably the best driving we've ever done. |

How would discs in the rear change this tho? |

| Re: Rear disc brake conversion? basically it wouldn't change it much. There may be less hop, or stop enough before the hop so that's not a issue anymore.
Really the best way to stop the hop, is to put a heavier motor in.... Which is a win win |

"JDM IST NCP60 XB NCP31 OEM Rear Disc Brake Conversion" | those looks to be off a AWD version I am guessing. Not sure on what options came with which NCP. Some JDM Head would know for sure though.
If they are for awd, I am not sure if they would be bolt on. The lines you could make work, the ebrake would need to be redone, but the back plate is what concerns me. The AWD runs a IRS (independent rear suspension), so unless the hub dimensions, they may not be bolt on. In which case, you could have EZ make you an adapter, OR redrill the backplates. The adapter could work in 2 ways, and also serve as a spacer, for those wanting to sit mo-flush. |

| Re: Rear disc brake conversion? Vitz is NCP10, NCP13, and NCP15.
NCP60 and NCP61 is ist, which only came in 2wd. They looked to be very careful to mark it at such, so I would assume it would fit bB/xB (maybe with little mods). I do know for sure that the 60/61 are indeed ist (xA), so that is certain. I personally dont care to try it however. It is certainly not an AWD brake setup though, PCH is right on that. |

| Re: Rear disc brake conversion? Agreed. There is absolutely NO WAY these work with an AWD setup. Also, the AWD bB was never offered with IRS. There is an AWD owner on this site "JDM101" I think. You can take a look at the pix he has posted. The AWD bB came with a solid rear axle and a link suspension and coil-over shocks.
The item listing is a little sketchy though. Shipping costs are huge, but they are offset by the low price for the conversion. I think the biggest issue would be locating replacement discs and pads when the time came. There is also no guarantee on the quality of the parts you will receive. Much of the information within the listing would also make me leary about ordering from this seller. |

| Re: Rear disc brake conversion? I'm still here, just haven't been around lately! Yes, I completed a rear disc conversion over a year ago and have enjoyed it ALOT! I have sold a few kits, not as many as I thought I would but enough to make it worth my time to put the hours into it. I ended up using all Toyota parts along with parts I had machined. I have over 20,000 miles on the set-up and have had no ABS or lock-up issues. The good thing about it is, I got the e-brake to work! Most guys that tried to do their conversions were sucessful doing the conversion itself, but ended up not running an e-brake because they couldn't get it to work. With a few modifications, and some machined parts I was able to get it to work. There is also another conversion on the market that uses a caliper for the braking, but then uses shoes inside the rotor hat for the e-brake. Its great he came out with that kit, but I wanted a true disc conversion, plus all the parts in their kit are salvaged parts and the kit ran over $800.00 (for USED parts). The caliper I ended up using is self contained, so no need for shoes in the hat! All the parts are new! And still made it close to the others conversion prices. Again with new part, not used salvaged items! I have one complete kit left with the new hubs. It is listed on Ebay now. I also have enough brackets and parts and pcs. to do 17-18 more. All of the parts that were machined from steel were electroless nickel plated and any aluminum parts were anodized black to protect them from the elements. I will probably end up selling the bracketry as a kit to DIY. Here are some pictures. Hope you enjoy!
And it will also work with stock size wheels!
