So I know i need brakes, but i believe this is a diff noise. When i turn left i get a loud scrubbing noise. Its not the tire hitting anything(i have no fender liner and its the same noise slammed or aired up). Its more of a metal on metal noise. I did some research and it could be the wheel bearing. Toyota wants 400 to fix that. During my searches i also learned the wheel will move when you jack up the car and shake it, mine doesnt.


Any ideas on what else it could be? Im still leaning towards a front wheel bearing, i just want to be sure before i shell out the 400 bucks.

check your bearing, ball joints and also your cv axles... both my cv axles went bad and didnt get the usual cracking sound

I know this sounds dumb but sometimes the wear indicator on the brake pad can cause this noise even when the brakes arent applied. (LIKE I SAID, sounds dumb). If you need brakes just change them and while your wheels off look around. Might see something.Noise might go away after pad replacement. GL

UPDATE....it was the wheel bearing. I had it replaced and all is well again!

ah heck...im hearing a noise too (sounds like metal on metal as well)...please god dont tell me its a wheel bearing...ugh. i thought at first it was the 3 heads on the top of the strut not being locked down making the sound when the car goes up and down(kinda like a grinding) but theyre secure. im going to go cry in the corner now...brb.
