Easy Street Easy Camber Fix

So my good buddy Ray came over this morning to let me try to fix his positive front camber issues that he's been having with his Easy Street front air struts. We had tried a set of camber bolts before with no success and after a little bit of persuasion, I convinced him to let me slot the bolt holes out for adjustment. A couple of minutes with the trusty die grinder is all it took. Tons of adjustment now. I set it up at zero camber when aired all the way down, and have the ability to even get some negative if he wants to.

So you want to do this? Here's how:
Grind the lower bolt hole open about 1/8" towards the outside of the car.
I used a 12" level to set it where we wanted since I don't have an alignment rack in my toolbox.

The fix was simple and painless. And since the grinder was out, I clearanced the pinch weld on the frame to clear the sway bar. This got him another 1/4" of drop.

We had so much time left over, that I swapped out his gauge needles for the new Randode needle set. I don't even have this ish on my car yet.

And now for the pics:

before=bad positive camber

after grinding=hello negative camber land

anyone need a tooth drilled?

ahh vertical....

Re: Easy Street Easy Camber Fix

I just grinded out the holes and it did work. I didn't get as much adjustment but now I have what seems like 0 to +/- 1 degree. I have to get an alignment cause the steering wheel is cocked about 10-15 degrees but I kinda expected that. lol.

Testify brother Randy! I just put a new set of rubber on my rims today after having neg camber both front and rear. I was down to the steel belts after 4,000 miles. That's a high price for looks.

I used the stock ones. There is no need to use camber bolts. Although I haven't tried it yet. I might. I'm just getting sick of having to get an alignment everytime I mess with the ES front struts. As soon as I can get my hands on something else I am there. My honest opinion is to get camber plates and be done with it. If not and you have my luck you'll be messing witht the front struts a few weeks later. My current problem is a wheel bearing like noise. Sucks but I'm sure it's my tires.

No we used the stock bolts. I'm not sure how much Ghost 1 slotted the bottom holes but I didn't need to spend big $$ for camber plates. Sure they work great and look great but for a "free" mod such as this it's a no brainer.

I need a set of needles where all of them light up.

Good fix on the camber adjustments.

Re: Easy Street Easy Camber Fix

There is no reason for you to slot the lower holes if you have the camber plates. This specific DIY was for those that didn't want to spend money or couldn't for some reason use cmaber plates.

As for what bolts I used, I used the stock bolts myself. Camber bolts would have been a waste of money and time. I had a set lying on the ground from a previous attempt to fix my camber issue.

At this point in time I'm waiting on Scionpro to get the low down on the new front HPS struts. I wannt get them for several different reasons but the main one being I've had nothing but constant headaches with the easystreet struts.

Re: Easy Street Easy Camber Fix

I also have had trouble with the Easy Street Struts. The camber issue is ture they will give you positive camber and you get a big toe-in change when you go low. Elongating the holes works , in my case we used smaller diameter bolts and got enuf tip to get in spec (just).

The issue I have with the Easy Street struts is that mine are noisy as hell!!! Sounds like all the mounting bolts are loose RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE oh did I say RATTLE?? Easy Street has been promising me a fix since January. So far I have gotten nothing but excuses and empty promises as to when a retro fit to fix this annoying noise will happen. The 2 guys that I have been talking to there (Cory and Jeremy) generally will not even return my phone calls. ( I have not been bugging them...they tell me in Feb that "Oh we will have a redesigned strut to fix this in late April" so I call them in about early May). This promise of a fix has been repeated like 45 times since January. I was told a fix would be available by mid September so I started calling and leaving messages about the first of October. My calls were not returned. I finally got thru to Jeremy last week and he said they have determined that the problem is in the upper strut mount but that redesigned xB ones are ready yet. He said he would find out when they will be ready and call me back...AS USUAL NO CALL BACK
