dropping this month!

ok my 21st birthday is this month so i am picking some stuff out for my car. I wanna do alot of stuff so cheap everything is a must. I found some Megan Racing Springs for $130 shipped. Now I need to know what else to get for suspension. Basics only as I can always add on more later. Shocks/Struts and any bars I might need for a decent ride please. Ridding on stock steelies and stock tires. Will deal with that later. Also, I'm in the south Houston area if anyone wants to help put them on i'll buy you a 12 pack or something. Thanks!

btw i have done alot of research and using the search button and havent really gotten a good answer. lots of answers from different people so i want a good unanimous vote here please! this might also help other people looking at the same springs.

Re: dropping this month!

might wanna get shocks and struts at the same time as springs since evrything will be off anyways.....alot of people go with the Sensatracs( 5870 Ithink).....you can get echo struts for a 1/2 lower drop....make sure you get an alignment afterwards!

Re: dropping this month!

As Al said, while you have it apart for the springs, i'd do the shocks/struts at the same time. And the ride is great! I actually have a brand new set of both the Echo struts and the 5870's, in the boxes still i'll give you a deal on!

Re: dropping this month!

ok well i want a level drop. like after dropping the body looks level. i also need wheel spacers. bbszero i saw that you have spacers. are those rear only? im running stock steelies for now. thinking about getting some 195/45/15 tires to run on them and getting spacers to make it more aggressive. think that will be ok with the drop? will stock tires be ok with the drop? i am planning on getting new wheels i just dont know when

Yeah, rear only. I'm running 195/60/15 on steelies, dropped about 3 inches with 20mm of spacers in the rear, and still don't rub. You'll be fine with that combo.

I thought it was echo springs that give you a lower drop, not the struts.

also, if you were looking for cheap... i got TRD springs, new, shipped on ebay for 88 bucks. TRD rear sway, new, shipped for 89 bucks. this place called airport toyota or something like that. eBay FTW!

Re: dropping this month!

First off, if you are shopping for suspension stuff...eBay is not the place to start.

This is a great newbie thread where I began a lot of my research:
xA Spring rates - ScionLife Home of the Scion xA, Scion xB and Scion tC owner and enthusiast

Yeah it's on the "other" site, but I have yet to read a rival thread with near complete info.

This is the way I would spring shop:
1.drop height
2.spring rate
3.popularity
4.color
...
last and definetley least: price shipped

#s 3 and 4 are for shock value really. What I mean is the price is the LAST thing you should consider when shopping for suspension components, especially each bounce you take from then on. The springs will be with you from the moment you install them on. I would shop based on rate. Do you like a progressive rate? If you notice, MEGAN springs have the highest spring rate of any of the springs on the list (when compared to stock). they will provide a very tight ride. also, look for people that have them on their xB...there aren't that many.
