| Re: Speakers Ah thats too much to read.. The dash takes 4" speakers, you can buy ring adapters for the front and rear and make them 6 1/2" ..
You just fold some tabs back on the 4"'s and they fit in the dash. |

| Re: Speakers The dash ones are a special kind but the 4 thing is really easy.. They just fit right in with the tabs gone. The front speakers are 6.5 but they have a mounting bracket thing build into them. So when you drill them out (you have to drill out rivits to get them out) you will need a mounting bracket for them (as I linked) The rear speakers are 5 1/4 but 6.5s are better and normally the same price, so with the same bracket you can upgrade to a bigger louder speaker. |

| Re: Speakers front stockies are 2 inch tweaters. but bending the two side pieces of a 4' and it will fit perfect using the existing wholes on the side.
The front doors. Best bet is 6.25's or 6.5's. All you gotta do is take a piece of 3/4 mdf and trace the templet off of the existing speaker mount that you pull out (gots to drill the existing 3 rivets and pop them real easy.
6.25's fit without the new mount ring but the magnet will not fit when the window is down so make sure you have clearance regardless of what you do.
Back is 5.25's stock but 6.25's fit and there is plenty of room to make the whole bigger to fit 6x9s or other similar speakers. |

I even purchase the Crutchfield Sosche Speaker Adaptor Braket Plates for the rear and these wont fit my MB Quart speakers. The only way I can see fitting these MB Quarts into them would be cutting the sheet metal and making the whole larger then use sheet metal screws to mount a home made MDF mounting bracket.
Anyone have any thoughts as to what I should use to cut a nice larger circle around the existing mounting hole in the sheet metal?
Anyone else have this issue with trying to mount 6.5" speakers in the rear positions?
Thanks in advance! |

Anyone ever had to do this?
I rather leave the hole stock and not cut the sheet metal but then I guess that would mean I would have to stick with stock 5.25" sized speakers? |

The cool thing about using crutchfield is that they include the speaker brackets for free and the wire adapters so that you won't have to cut off the stock speaker plugs . Also, you can upgrade to 6.5" speakers up front with no problem at all. |

| Re: Speakers I finally got some 4" Visonik Speakers for the dash cuz my box didn't come with any , but now I got 'em, and HOLY CRAP did they make a difference! Before, I had to keep the subs volume down cuz the music would sound choppy. I guess the bass canceled out some of the air waves or something, but now, with my new 2-way speakers in the front, I can blast the subs away without compromising the quality of my music!!! |

it's due to improper crossovering on the stock setup. heavy bass will cause highs to become choppy those why it's better to have an aftermarket head unit that allows for lowpass and highpass croossover setups between the signal to the full range and to the subwoofer(s). bass IS sound waves, no matter what it does, it's all the same. thing about it is, anything below the 80-90hz zone is all omni directional which means no matter where it's facing, it's going to sound the same regardless... where as anything higher in frequency will start to depend on direction of fire or direction of fire towards deflection *bouncing from the winshield to you for example*. this is where you ennter the world of phasing characteristics and you start getting into wave form and alignment modeling in the developement field... but i'm not going that far.
it seems odd that you didn't have dash speakers in the first place... unless you bought your xB used. Quote:

thanks | did you mean 12 inch? or actually meant 2 inch?
if 2 inch... i hope they are high end based *tweeter based*, if not, they'll probably be useless.
also know, BOSE is NOT that great of an audio company. there isn't anything special about the things they do nor the drivers *speakers them selve's* they use. some are made by Eminence and others by P. Audio, both being Live Audio companies. Eminence has a few models that are "ok" and P. Audio has a good selection of rather nice products but they're not "the world's leading audio developement company". to name a few of the "best", it would have to be JBL, LabGrumpen, Crown International, Harman International, Dobly Digital and so on... which more than half of the list is owned by Harman International.

Yeah, I got my xB used , but it used to be owned by the SAKURA .
As far as Bose goes, IDK. For home speakers, I would think that they're okay, for cars, I don't think they're all that great. I've had a couple of friends who've had bose components in their cars, and after a while, they sound and work like crap. I personally wouldn't buy them cuz there's more cost friendly, and performance friendly, components out there ^^^ JBL, Kicker, etc. etc., but that's just me.
However, if you already have them, then I guess you can use them for the dash speakers and maybe custom mount them on your A-pillars or rear doors for those riding in the back seats. Or if you have a sub box in the rear, maybe you can custom mount them on the box so the rear passengers can also hear he music and not just the bass. |

| Re: Speakers in my honest opinion, i've never heard anything so crisp, clean and clear sounding over what the JBL 660GTI's produce...
you might spend 800-1000 for s single component system set of two mid drivers and two high drivers... but holy crap... so clean... |
