Scion xB Audio, Video, & Security Scion xB in car entertainment (aka Scion xB I.C.E.). With all the room available the sky is the limit when adding Scion xB car audio and video. While you're tinkering with the Scion xB electrical system why not install a Scion xB security system.

Re: recommended size not big enough???

when i went to trade the guy for the w6 i sat in his car listined to the w6 then he came to my car and listined to the w7 he complimented the highs....(focal polyglass series components and coaxiles) then i showed him the sub and he noticed the focals werent even attached to the amp, im rinning them off of the head unit cause the amp needs repairs and all he said is dear god.... i think that means wow in some way or another..

hahahah

so stay sealed over ported??

what are the bennifits of it being sealed over ported? just for the sake of SQ over SPL??

Re: recommended size not big enough???

You get a wider range of frequencies with smoother response than a ported setup, more power handling, smaller enclosures, but less output. Sealed is definitely the way to go for SQ.

Re: recommended size not big enough???

I'll bet you your W6 that you will want your W7 back.
even though you are feeding it "enough" power, it will still be more efficient that the W6. and you an always get another 500/1 and hide it somewhere...

*aren't*
stupid edit

Re: recommended size not big enough???

sealed = best for SQ, quick response even on high mass *heavy cone* subwoofers. no real improvement on powerhandling, it's more the fact that the subwoofer isn't flopping about from an improperly tuned vented box OR it's just capable of being in a vented box.

vented on the other hand allows you to get deeper by extending the low range by adding a resonance point of the box so that the speaker realyl doesn't do much near the tuning point of the box, the box it's self is amplifieing the sound while the subs do hardly anything at all making it less of a strain to get certain levels of output from the amplifier.

some subwoofers sound better in vented enclosures, others in sealed. my subs are in a vented enclosure and sound amazing. they would be VERY SLIGHTLY more responsive in a sealed box but that's only because they are 8inch subs so they have an extremely low cone mass to begin with so response delay is pretty much non-existant. the larger the woofer size, the more mass you add to the cone due to it's size which results in more and more response delay because the added mass causes it to be harder to move in demanding times.
