fiberglassing on MDF???

OK so I am taking a shot at making a custom sub enclosure and want some curbes to it and want to paint it to match the car and have a nice glossy coat....have the box built mostly now and have what I think would work as a skeleton for the fiberglass...my question is can I just lay the fiberglass cloth over the flat surfaces of the MDX box and fiberglass it? will it adhere to the MDF? Tips or sugestions? will send pics if I have too but trying to keep it a secret until its done because I dont want anyone stealing my idea just yet...think it will be a nice show piece once its done

get some lycra material from the joannes fabrics or Michaels or whatever you have out there, something stretchy like a spandex type of material, but thin, stretch that over your skeleton and staple it to the bottom of the base, brush some resin on that to harden it and let it take shape. then lay your glass on top of that.

I like plush felt material too. It's pretty stretchy, but not as much as lycra of course. It cures pretty thick when both sides are glassed.

Re: fiberglassing on MDF???

ok so lycra over the skeleton and use the resin on it...then the fiberglass cloth over that correct? and I can just use a bondo type filler over it all to smooth it all out and fill in the screw holes and such on the surfaces not glassed? thanks for all of the help
