| Re: Factory alarm issues a lil offtopic. upgrade to another alarm system. stock scion alarm doesn't help detering thieves whatsoever. |

| Re: Factory alarm issues wireless remote does like to stick over time. my original remote has something spilt on it... as to what it is, i have no idea but i think some freinds or kids got too close with a surgary drink... on the other side though, the contact points inside do eventually relax on you, causing this to happen.
other times it's the alarm system it's self. improper grounding / wiring from the dealership *which is becoming more and more a common thing to see*, currosion on sensors, ghost programing, where a scrip is over looked by a processor *in theory possible and does seem to happen*, maybe... Gremlins...
aftermarket alarm system FTW! |

| Re: Factory alarm issues ^^^^^ same with me. i don't mind. i know its the vibrations waves that set it off. even a car with a somewhat laud exhaust sets it off |

| Re: Factory alarm issues an alarm is supose to be sensitive for a reason. if it isn't the person can be careful about getting into your car without it going off.
our factory alarm is actually set at a very low sensitivity. i went and reajusted mine to the highest setting. knocks on the windows or bumping the doors WONT set it off... but taking your keys and just barely swing them on the glass and it'll go off for sure.
the sensor is a glass break sensor, it will only go off to the sound of or similar sound of glass breaking but not the sound of blunt objects hitting the doors or anything and it's not vibration sensitive.
it does go off for certain now at the maximum setting but only if the window is broken first. so for the factory alarm, it mmust take damage first before going off... a rather useless system if you ask me.
i WANT an alarm that's so sensitive that someone barely bumps it, it goes off FOR A REASON. if someone is starting a harley next to your car and you have a good alarm... yeah, it better go off. harleys don't have any kind of sound muffling equipment on thier exhaust, they're meant to be loud as hell and that kind of sound preasure will cause loads of vibration and results in setting your alarm off. you WANT that to happen.. otherwise you WANT thieves to be able to rip your door open without the alarm going off. |
