Re: The Reconstruction

Yeah, I know that winter overnight thing all too well. Did that to a car before, luckily for me I didn't hit a curb, just right into a telephone pole.

Hopefully you get it fixed. Now that your wheels is roughed up, is it time for those XXR's you want?

Re: The Reconstruction

haha. If insurance covers new wheels and tires (because GOD I HATE THE EAGLE LS TIRES! I blame the tires for part of this. They are like oil in the winter.), then just maybe. Might as well upgrade something. lol. I'd settle for a full paint job, since the last people that did body work on my car did a half ass job.

Honestly, I'd drive it all wrecked up in the front. I just want it drivable again.

I can dig up the number for the wheel repair shop over in cincy if you want. They are fairly reasonable iirc.

Yeah, this sucks. I love driving in the snow. But man, other people suck. lol.

You know what the worse part was? After I hung up the phone with my insurance company, a salt truck came by. WTF?!?! Talk about poor timing. Had I got stuck at the light, (like I usually do) I probably would have been fine.

Such as my luck.

How is that Karma? I wrecked it before I said it. And like I said, I didn't wreck it from cutting springs, or anything like that. I wrecked it because of another idiot driver, and sliding on ice.

LOL! I haven't bought it yet. And its gonna set back some plans too. I gotta pull together $500 bucks to get my deductible paid. And hopefully my insurance covers the storage fee since it has to sit up at the towing company's lot.

That isn't a very good step in the right direction. But if the insuanrce is going to cover it then not all will be lost.....

Re: The Reconstruction

Glad to hear you're not hurt, but if this is the way you drive with just 1 person in your way how in the world are you going to handle a track full of other vehicles once you get back into time attack mode?

Oh yeah, well your face! Me 1 you 0!

Got my rental today. Grand Prix GP. It will grab rolling rubber.

But yeah, stopped out to get the important things I left in the car (3 packs of smokes), and went to open the driver side door, and couldn't. It was binding with the fender. Wasn't doing that when I steered it on the wrecker.... Hmmm....

But yeah, most of the damage seems to be in the control arm. I got a good look under there and its twisted in two spots. One spot in the center, and the 2nd spot at the ball joint. Looks like that's most of the damage, and possibly the wheel bearing is shot.

I am going to call back tomorrow I guess, and tell them to keep the control arm. I want that focker! Its a work of art! Maybe I'll take it to Scion and be like.... These suck. Build them stronger.

Also gonna see if I can get them to replace the bushings in both control arms for me, since I have them, as well as put brakes on it since it'll be up in the air anyways.

Alright. Another update on the RE-REconstruction. lol

My quote was done, and they only quoted for replacing a "reconditioned steel wheel" not a new DR20. (but the guy doing it said that's b/s. Let me try and get you a new DR20 instead).

I am trying to get them to work with my insurance company in order to not pay a high deductible, skip out on the body work. Which means i'll need to replace the front lip (since the wrecker was so kind to crack it). And to just re-align and pull the fender back into shape so that the door opens again. That alone should save at least $500.

They also have on here, Radiator support. I am not sure how I could of possibly bent that support, begin as all the impact was absorbed by the wheel, and control arm. lol.

Here's a good WTF? "replace RT Under Cover Manual Tranny." I have an auto... But according to the run down on my VIN its a Manual? WTF? It list a base no option Scion.... Not what mine is. Mine has everything but leather, sunroof and a 6disc as options. Somethings odd there.

Grand total: $2333.80 Most of which is labor and body work. So if I don't get this loan, I don't know what I am going to do. Maybe ask for a credit increase of 1K and just put it on a credit card? UGGG! This car is cursed!

Re: The Reconstruction

I might be able to help ya out with the front lip. Mine has a little spot in the center where a wrecker might have bend it a bit but it still looks good.

Re: The Reconstruction

sounds good. I'll let ya know in a couple of days whats up with it.

If I am able to not to some of the body work, how much you want for it? It looks like they took a saw blade to mine right after the bend. Bastards.

Re: The Reconstruction

Well its actually up to my insurance company, since I filled the claim against my self. I tried to do the work my self, but they said that if I did, and other stuff was wrong, it would not be covered. SO Its best just to let the insurance handle this, as well as the shop working on it. At least its covered until I sell the car
