my airbag light is on, and scaring the crap outta me !

Hey does anyone know of any problems with the airbag's? i already put it on my diagnostic reader and got no codes, checked the fuse panel and dont see a fuse for the srs...i dont know how to check the sensor, but if it was the sensor it should of pulled up a code...any idea's, anyone?

A standard scanner will not find the code. Could be the clock spring in the steering wheel, a seat belt sensor, or an impact sensor (possibly the SRS computer).. No way to tell, unless you just worked on something, had an electrical issue or get an SRS/ABS code scanner to look at it.. then we can start narrowing things down. For now, reset the ECU and see if it comes right back.. or what happens.

I have seen a dead battery and a loose connection under the seat trigger a code on newer Hondas.. never had an issue with the B.

P.S.

If it scaring you because you might think something is going to "POP" on you.. if the light is on, the system is shut down

To show SRS codes it needs a shop scanner with enhanced OBD2 software.

It does Chassis (VSC/ABS/Trac) and Body (SRS). For a few $K.

I had one in 2005 .. older model. but still the god of scanners.. The Ethos does SRS.

Hectic, tell me the production month of your 05, i may be able to tell you how to read the codes without the scanner.

hectik I had a ford taurus sho that used to do that... and I can totally relate to being worried about getting popped in the face with one of those death bags... but according to the very intelligent people above me, there shouldn't be anything to worry about IF the light is on... have you googled other xB owners experiencing this issue?

The following info is for 05 models July to Dec production:
To read present SRS codes turn the ignition ON and wait 1 minute. On the underdash OBD2 connector jump terminals #4 and #13 (paper clip is fine).

The SRS light will start blinking a two digit code (may be more than one). Count flashes separated by pauses.
For example **_*** is a Code 23.
If you have more than one code, like 23 and 41 it will look like this:
**_***____****_* then it will pause for few seconds and repeat.

thanx pch, ill try that in a bit! thanx to everyone with such quick responses....oh by the way it happened when i went to the carwash the other day and got my oil change done...also i been kinda having a problem with my alternator/battery,it was giving a problem outta no where and now it seems to be just fine..things are getting wierd as i close in on the 100,000 mile mark !

low voltage for a period of time will trigger an SRS code.. but try to pull a code using PCH's method. GL.

thanx for the advice on how to read to codes pch, but i got a 26 and haven't the slightest on what that means cause i cant find anything online with srs codes...do you by any chance know what this is?

but wouldn't the seltbelt light be on also? if not how should i go about fixing this?

You can check if any of the wires ging to passenger belt buckle are broken or disconnected. If you have a multimeter check the resistance by disconnecting the switch under the seat. With belt clicked in should read 1K-1.5KOhm ad with belt off 100-500 Ohm. Do all checks with disconnected battery.

Dude you rock..so i checked the wires connected to the bottom of the seat b4 and the were still connected, but what i forgot to check was the harness on the side next to the center console! Thanks so much for assisting me through this ! I go nuts when there a light on in my car !
