I may get a job in Honduras. I have the opportunity to ship my xB there as part of a relocation package. Should I do that, or sell the car and buy something there? Questions:

Were xB's ever sold in Central America or Honduras specifically?
Getting parts for an imported car in Honduras will be a headache. I read that the xB shares parts with the Echo and the Yaris. What parts? Engine? Suspension?
Were those cars sold in Honduras? Any other part exchanges?

I know this post is off the wall, but I need to start somewhere and I appreciate any help!

I'm not ready to sell the B, it's got 92k miles and I expect a lot more trouble free miles out of it. But waiting for parts to arrive from some other country, plus the duty and the 12% sales tax on imported parts, AND finding someone to fix can be a real nuisance.

I don't think Scion was sold in Central America but they have a lot of Toyota models there. If it were me I would take the xB and hope for the best! if you buy a car there it is my guess that you would have the same issue with parts. I doubt that the dealers keep much of an inventory of parts on hand because of the high import duties so you would be waiting for parts on anything that you buy there also.
There is also the possibility that you can sell the xB there when you return and get a much better price than what you would get if you brought it back. There may be Honduran legal issues about taking the car there and then selling it but I would look into it.

IT'll be fun trying to fix it if something major happens to it. I went to Roatan Honduras and I would not take my car there or anyones on this site. Roads sucked and were really skinny and dangerous. The link above was one of my threads.
