DIY: rear sidemarker re-wire

I really haven’t contributed on this form, and I didn’t see a DIY rear re-wire thread so here it is >_>

Tools:
10mm socket
Philips head screw driver
Wire
Wire stripper
Some crimp connectors
Electrical tape

Step 1: Remove the rear bumper
I’m pretty sure people can figure out how to take this off

Step 2: remove the door to the tail light wires
Remove the little door so you can gain access to the tail light wires and cut away some of the rubber tubing.

Step 3: Cut and crimp the green and black wire
Cut and crimp the green and black wire. If you’re looking at the white connector, it should be right next to an empty space in the connector.
(Sorry for the blurry picture I don’t have steady hands )

Step 4: Route your wire
Route your wire through these little holes () you can stick your finger through from the inside.

Should look something like this.

Connect your wire to the green and black wire and crimp them together to the wire that’s still attached to the connector.

Step 5: Crimp the new wire to the white wire on the sidemarker
Cut the white wire that’s connected to the rear side marker and crimp it to the new wire you routed earlier

Step 6: Clean up everything
clean up everything with some electrical tape and repeat on the other side.

Re: DIY: rear sidemarker re-wire

Those side markers are only lite at night. To get them to blink during the day I imagine you'd need power from the turnsignal/brakelight assembly.

Re: DIY: rear sidemarker re-wire

yea you would need to power them from the same power as the turn signal. thats pretty much it. If i had a volt meter i could figure it out.

Dion, could link Evildave's DIY, on the front markers, to this post?

Then owners can do both mods and have the lights match.

Dave's no longer has the pics, but we do have another... Side Marker Modification

BTW, good call, Brad. These two mods compliment each other.

Re: DIY: rear sidemarker re-wire

Thanks again for a great DIY. Let's close this so it doesn't get off the main topic, any additional questions should be addressed via PM.
