DIY: LED Illuminated Cup Holder

honestly I am pretty decent with wiring and hiding them. I loved the illuminated scion cup holder from the toyota dealer, but i couldnt see myself parting away 300 dollars for it so i made one myself for 20 dollars and heres how. PICS BELOW!

1.) i took out my middle console from between the front seats.
(there is one philips head screw where the armrest would be and 2 clips where the cup holder are at)
2.) i drilled 3 holes where each cup goes about 1 inch apart in a triangle type formation. (unsure of drill bit size but go from small to big)
3.) push the led's rubber boot through the flush hole with your finger
4.) get all the positive (+) wires from the led's and twist them together and crimp them a connector all together
5.) do the same above with the negative (-)
6.) very gently push the leds into the rubber boot. (gently because the first one i accidently forces and broke a terminal)
7.) wire up your positive and negative wires however you like (i connected them to my positive and negative that ran to my head unit so i know the connections are good until my switch comes in the mail)
8.) hide wires
9.) ENJOY!
**note head unit will never turn off your led's without a switch but your battery will be fine over night with the lights on!!!!

Let me know what you all think!!!!

nice... went to do it and the only thing missing was... what wire to tap into?? got me thinkin too posting this... will Led's dim? if so, in theory if you hooked it up to the dimmer would the led's dim too?

Re: DIY: LED Illuminated Cup Holder

looks good, but how are you preventing water or any othe rliquid from dropping onto the top of the led down to the terminals?

Re: DIY: LED Illuminated Cup Holder

ok guys sorry i havent gotten back to you
I havent done anything to stop water from going into terminals but with the kit i purchased from pep boys came with rubber boots that fit between the led and the hole drilled which lets very little liquid get through(accidently spilled water in the holder and it works still)
Not to sure about the dimmer control but my guess would be it probably would work
Got them from pep boys 3 for 7.99
