DIY: bB Headlight Install

I got a set of bB headlamps recently. I tried to search for some sort of DIY guide to help, but couldn't find anything. With help, here and there, I got them installed today.

I used this thread to help remove the front bumper.
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/view...bumper+removal

First thing to deal with was the sockets. (credit goes to zerocool )

For the turn signal /parking light, I got these 7443 socket-pigtails from autolumination.com.

To get them to fit, I simply had to file down one of the larger tabs. Again, it was the wider tab. You can get an idea from the pic.

To align it, I just used a magic marker... Makes it easy to remove.

For the city light slot, I used old sidemarker sockets from a 91 Honda Civic. A lot of Hondas/Acuras use them. They fit like a champ!

To wire those up, I simply used some slide on terminals and crimped some wire to them. (I should have got a pic)

For wiring, here's is how my xB was set up..

Passenger side:
White = Ground. I hooked this up to the green wire on the 7443 socket.
Green/Orange = Parking Light. I hooked this up to the black wire on the 7443 socket.
Green/Yellow = Flasher. I hooked this up to the white wire on the 7443 socket.

Drivers Side:
White = Ground. I hooked this up to the green wire on the 7443 socket.
Solid Green = Parking Light. I hooked this up to the black wire on the 7443 socket.
Green/Black = Flasher. I hooked this up to the white wire on the 7443 socket.

For the city lights, I opted to use them as parking lights as well. I simply tapped into the green and black wires of the 7443 sockets, then hooked them up the the sockets for the city lights.

I really LOVE the way these headlights fit!!

FLUSH!!

Hopefully this helps someone.

for the city lights you can use the same plug that fits the side markers of the xb.

Yeah, I had a couple of these Civic ones laying around that worked. So, just ran with them.

Thanks again for the socket tips!

Nice write-up, I'm sure it'll help someone out for sure. If it's okay with you, I'm going to move this to the DIY forum.

No problem!

For the lights, I got them from CubeDriven. He had a set for sale in the classifieds. I've been keeping an eye out for a set for a while now.

Or, newscionparts sells them new for $399.

Per Dennis' request...

"Here's a quick pic with the way I have the city light set up. It comes on w/ the parking light."
